We have eaten at several Cuban restaurants in Miami and The Keys, but none of them have anything on place we found in Denver,... NC. We both had a Cafe Con Leche. It was delicious. Appetizer - Mariquitas/Tajadas. Fried green plantain chips with a choice of2 different sauces. Garlic Cilantro or Mojo Sauce. We asked for both. My favorite was the Garlic Cilantro. My wife had the RopaVieja. (Shredded beef in a red sauce with onions and peppers) Amazing! I had Lechon. (Roasted pork topped with grilled onions)Both came with black beans and rice. More than Amazing! One of the owners came by and talked with us for a few minutes, whichalways nice in a new (to us) restaurant. The wait staff were super friendly. We can't wait to go back! Small, strip mall setting with 9 tables inside and a couple more outside, the decorations pay homage to Miami, as well as Cuba,... with street signs such as Hialeah, Ocean and SW 8th St, a clipping of snow in Miami back in 1977, and other Miami knickknacks,the place has a bright, almost tropical look to it. The slogan is "A Little 305 in the 704." With a collection of mostly Cubandishes, as well as Nicaraguan, they did just that. My wife and I tried several things off the menu. The mariquitas - greenplantain chips - were an ok appetizer but the garlic cilantro dipping sauce had a nice flavor and bite to it. Entrees comeserved with traditional black beans and rice, all wonderful. Best dish was my wife's, "Masitas de Puercos Fritas", which ischunks of fried pork, not unlike carnitas. The crispiness of the pork and the marinade, moist pork underneath the crispy layer,and the grilled onion was a marvelous combination. I went with the Palomilla steak, a thin sirloin, almost skirt steak like,that had good flavor with the onions. Oh, and get the buttered Cuban bread, really excellent for soaking up the last bit ofliquid from the black beans. Closed out the meal with the Cortadito, a Cuban coffee with steamed milk. We went for the first time yesterday and I was blown away! The lechón was absolutely delicious! Being a born and raised... Miamian, I know my Cuban food. So I had high expectations. I have heard lots of good things about Miami Fusion Cafe. After Church, my wife and I have it a try. The staff was very... friendly and welcoming. Our waitress gave us some recommendations and she was very helpful describing the various dishes andfavorites. We started with the Empanada appetizer?delicious! My wife had the Cuban Sandwich and I had the Cuban Chop Chop forour meals. Both were delicious. My wife said it was the best Cuban Sandwich she had ever had. The roasted pork and Mojo Sauceon my meal was delicious as well. Very flavorful and fresh. My wife finished with an iced coffee to go, and enjoyed it aswell. What can I say? I am new to the area and this place came across my radar. The reviews were high, so had to try it out. Believe... all the 5 stars! Oh my! I got the Cuban sandwich (forgot picture) and finished with a Cuban coffee. Both were amazing and I?mstill trying to figure out how they transported me to Miami that quickly!
