The food was good but the real story here is the guy working at the new ankeny location. I’m not sure what his title is but he... seems to be the manager/ chef/ cashier/ waiter. Just an absolute jack of all trades. You do have to wait a little for the foodbut it’s understandable. They are open late 6 days a week up until 2 am on most nights. Good food, highly recommend! This place is awesome! I knew there were places that were open late for Mexican food, but I didn't know where and I didn't know... they could possibly have this good of food. We went through the drive up, ordered our food and waited at the window until thefood was done. That food was so good! I'm in love. I'm sorry that this restaurant is no where close to my home. This place use to be a go to for me, but huge decline in quality. Last two burritos I ordered had more raw onions than meat. Not... sure if that's a strategic ploy to keep costs down, but taking a big bite of raw onion is not pleasant. I wish they would dobetter. Read more

This was my first time trying Maria’s. I ordered a number 4 with cheese sauce and beef as my meat option. I got to the window... and paid cash and wasn't given my change yet but they asked what kind of meat I wanted again and I replied with beef please. 5min goes by and I am handed my food with a quick thanks. I wasn’t given my change back from paying cash and I wasn’t giventhe correct meat inside my enchiladas. I waited for a moment and no one came back so I left with the wrong food and no changeback from my cash payment. It’s obvious this place needed my change a little more than I did. For the food I did get it was abig disappointment. There was almost no flavor on anything even the chicken. The rice was gummy and weirdly dry no flavor. Thebeans were no flavor. The enchiladas with now chicken had no flavor. The only flavor I did taste from the chicken was the sametaste of canned chicken straight from the can. I won’t be going back at all Read more
