I was really looking forward to going here--the reviews I read were amazing. I thought the food was ok, not great, but average.... Prices were extremely high for what you get--small portions, and not as flavorful as other authentic Italian restaurants I'vebeen to. My husband and I were very disappointed in the food, coupled with high prices, we give this restaurant a thumbsdown. But on a good note: The calamari appetizer was the best calamari we've ever had anywhere... large pieces of calamari witha nice deep-fried breading. Read more
This was my second experience at Roma and both experiences we have had an issue, especially with the blonde female... “manager”. The first experience, they tried charging us for veal instead of chicken on a pasta dish. When brought to theattention of the manager to have it fixed, she argued with us and implied we were liars. She did fix the situation, but onlyafter our table pushing her and insisting we know the difference between veal and chicken. Despite this experience, myboyfriend and I returned last night for his birthday dinner to celebrate. The service was extremely slow even when not verybusy. We watched our waiter take care of 3 other tables while ignoring us. We arrived at 6 for our reservation and did not leaveuntil about 8pm. Not by choice. We were even missing food items, never asked if we wanted more drinks after our first round andwe consistently had to ask other waiters to refill our water. When we talked to the female manager who came up to us and askedhow our dinner was, she said “Well, what can you do.” And insisted our server was their “best” and “oldest”server. I’m not sure where they found their manager but they should think about having someone nicer to paying customers whensomething is going wrong. We will not be returning. Poor management and poor service. Very sad. Read more

This is the best Italian spot in Detroit. I grew up on the East Coast with an Italian grandmother, so I really like good Italian... food, and it’s hard to find in Detroit. You have to get the tiramisu for dessert, it’s a homemade recipe, and my favoriteentree is the veal saltimbocca, hands down. An underrated quality these days is leaving the restaurant feeling full, and thisplace has big portions. The atmosphere is awesome. You do not need to dress up, it has a very relaxed casual setting, while alsofeeling kind of fancy. It is an awesome atmosphere. The staff is awesome. They are attentive and funny. Overall it is everythingyou want in an Italian restaurant. Read more

I loved it here. Classy yet casual and cozy. I love the bar area. Fabulous food! We had the minestrone and roasted red pepper... soups, veal marsala, scallapini artichoke chicken, spaghetti with meat sauce and pasta with marinara. Great bread and wine too. Everything was fantastic. The wait staff was attentive and fun. I can't wait to go back. Read more
