Went with a party of five and we all got something different, the service was okay. The food was fine but not the greatest. I... can speak for my own dish, the beef was way less tender than I had expected and I was hoping for more sauce. The rice, spinachand plantains were all great, just wish the beef had been more tender. Read more

This place is incredible. Food is so tasty, and I would definitely come back. Their plantains are always so tasty, their passion... fruit drink is a showstopper, and their mango coconut desert is amazing. The fish is so light and flaky if you feel like a lightmeal, and their signature dish is just amazing with the side of spinach. Their spiced rice is to die for and I can just eat itby itself. This place is special. There are not many East African fusion places around detroit? or in most cities in America for that... matter. Let?s start with the food. The food is very tasty, no question. The combination of African spices made the food reallypop no matter what you choose on the menu. The price? Definitely on the higher side, which is a little disappointing to mepersonally, but I think most other people will find it very reasonable and acceptable. The atmosphere is quite casual but I didnot get the immersive experience that I am eating at an unique East African restaurant. The disappointment I have is similar toTHE Gray in Savannah. Coming from a humble background myself, I was hoping I could taste the history of the owners who aremigrants from Africa? but I didn?t? therefore that?s one star off. Maybe I am being too harsh, but when someone has a story totell, I want to hear it from the food and the atmosphere. I might have tasted through the food (maybe), but I did not experienceit. I love this place. I'm no expert in African cuisine but Baobab serves some delicious food!! I've dined in twice now and both... times I've been very satisfied with my meals and service. It gets a little loud when it's packed but that's expected. The foodis always cooked perfectly and tastes amazing. The staff are super nice and helpful. Definately a must try if you're in Detroit! I wanted to give Baobab Fare 5 stars so bad. The food is really good! I would love to come back and try other dishes. The spices... and flavors delicious and the meats are cooked well. However, I had remove a star for the quality of service. The waitress wehad was not great. She was not attentive and not helpful when asking about the menu. We dined in at a not very busy time so I?mnot sure what the reason was. I will be back for food since service can always vary. Thank you for sharing your culture and Ilook forward to trying more items. Read more
