It's been years since we last had dinner at the Dorset Inn, and while ownership may have changed over time, the ambience, food,... and service are still all very special. My wife and I celebrated our anniversary there last Friday night. The salmon and porkdishes were outstanding, the waitress was extremely attentive, and the setting is every bit as cozy and warm as we'd rememberedit. Thank you for a wonderful meal and we'll surely not let so much time pass before we visit again. Read more

As a local person living in the area, I have dined at the Dorset Inn for over ten years. I rarely post reviews, but wanted to in... this case because I hope the restaurant will try to improve its food and service. This place has been a treasure to me, and overthe years we have celebrated birthdays, holidays, and anniversaries by treating ourselves to a special dinner there. After aparticularly abysmal experience this past Saturday, I'm not sure I'll return. Like all businesses in the area, they have raisedtheir prices, and I understand that, based on inflation. Yet raising the prices, decreasing portion size for run of the mealitems such as Caesar salads with boxed, tasteless croutons (small size --very small now-- $14), a very watery pasta dish($30)along with very inattentive, bordering on rude, service with our particular server, does not bode well for assuring that aloyal, local clientele will continue to patronize it. The server seemed miffed that we did not order a slew of alcoholicbeverages, disgruntled when we asked if they could light our table candle, flubbed one of the orders, did not bring water torefill our glasses nor bring bread, in spite of the bread plates and bread knives on the table (is that a staple they've noweliminated?).The restaurant, which as someone who cooks and bakes a good deal at home, provided well executed dishes that onefelt to be worth the price, with a lovely dining room and a charming tavern, as well as strong service. I. believe that it waspurchased by new owners sometime in the last few years, and they have failed to maintain the strong standards that made this oneof the best places in our area to enjoy a special meal. I had breakfast here after staying at the Barrows House. It was delicious and the staff was very friendly and easy going.

Got dinner reservations on the patio at 715 pm with a post heater by our table (alternate inside times were 430 and 830). Food... was good, but would have liked closer restaurant to where we were staying. Read more
