My sister had been last week and raved about the food. 6 of us went. Everyone enjoyed their meals. I tasted the turkey chops,... the cabbage (delish), collard greens, chicken wings and I had the fish and chips which consisted of whiting and fries. Uptowndrink is very good. Mark was our server and he was very pleasant. The atmosphere is very homey. The chef came out and talkedwith us as well. Good food, pleasant atmosphere...you can't go wrong. Read more
My wife and I decided to stop in here because we were craving some catfish and I heard good things. We weregreeted and seated in... a timely and kind manner. They were having an event in the back as well a lil patience was used. We got our orders in (wifey gotoxtail ???????????. Food was out in about 12 mins..hot, fresh, and DELICIOUS! Collard greens, cornbread, potato salad all wereflavorful and enjoyable...my wife's yams were delectible as well. ( Don't go there????) The catfish had a crispy crust and wasperfectly cooked on the inside. The oxtails were rockin as well. They have a rather nice size menu and I will be back to exploremore of it. It was my first time trying this place. Made it there just on time on a Wednesday. They close at 8 PM!! Google maps has it... wrong. When I walked in the host mentioned that they were closed at eight but he willingly and happily took my order which Istrongly appreciate. ???????????????? Bc I had such a craving for this food. I got the vegetarian plate? Collard greens, mac &cheese, potato salad, and cornbread. I have zero complaints about the food. The collard greens are salty (in a good way) andhave a bite. The mac & cheese is baked and has flavor. The potato salad is very evenly balanced on flavors. I usually prefersavory cornbread however, this one is mildly sweet, which I appreciated that it was not overly sweet. Read more
I am so happy to have found this place! Check out my pic. See that chicken? It was crispy and juicy as can be. It's not battered... and it ain't breaded but whatever it is they're using it sure is scrumptious! Food is cooked to order so if you're hungry Isuggest you have an appetizer. I'm coming back for lunchtime so I can have the fish with the cheesy grits! Come on down and havesome of this great food! and no I am in no way related to anyone in this establishment. Really amazing experience tonight at Soul Food Factory. From the moment you walk in, you feel like you're with family. We met... the owner, the chef and some of their family. We got to hear how the recipes were all taught to him by his mother. 3 of us gotthe fried chicken, my husband got the smothered pork chops and both were amazing. All of the sides we had were incredible -Candied yams, Mac n cheese, collard greens, beans and rice, and the corn bread. We have visited many soul food restaurantsup-and-down the East Coast and it's hard to find one where everything tastes this amazing and authentic. We can't wait to goback.
