The food here has definitely gotten better in the last couple years. Seems like there was a change of ownership. I typically get... burritos here, my wife gets the enchiladas. The one thing that's frustrating is trying to get green suace, or enough hit saucein general. I use typically like 6 green suace for my burritos. The staff is very nice, and I like to eat here at least twice aweek. Read more

I'm utterly disgusted and disappointed. I gave this location so many chances to be a good solid Sombrero Mexican take out, and... every time it was a big fail. I've tried the... *Carne asada fries *Carne asada burrito, tacos, and quesadilla *fish burrito*chilaquiles (green) ** ALL HAVE BEEN COLD except the quesadilla ** ** ALL HAD A HAIR IN THEM EXCEPT THE CARNE ASADA TACO ** Itruly don't understand how 5 out of the 6 times there was hair in the food? Once every now and then.. rarely.. ok yes Iunderstand it happens. But come on not this many consecutive times. The owner or management needs to re-evaluate asap and puthair nets and beard nets into play if they haven't already, and if they are required make sure it's being enforced! I am not thetype of person to call and get a refund, because I do know things like that happen, hair could be on their shirts and what not.As well as I don't have time to go back to the restaurant to show them and ask for any type of refund. I simply dont have theextra time for that so i take it as a loss for that meal. Also understand when food is Givin to you cold and hot or warm, it'sbecause they most likely make a lot of it at once, and put it into a container which need to be temperature controlled, and alsomonitored because it's definitely a dangerous health risk. They are pretty expensive... so I do expect decent quality food. Iwould appreciate my Carne asada to at least be warm to the touch instead of room temperature. I hope they can improve things andmake sure all food handling protocols are being properly done. My husband was extremely disappointed he loves his Mexican foodand its local for us. Read more

That used to be a very good place to grab something to eat, I lived and work in El Cajon 7 years ago and that was my favorite... place, the machaca burrito for breakfast or the specific shredded beef burrito for lunch. After so many years I stopped byyesterday and the quality of that special burrito was awful, it was bigger but the sauce on top was darker and bad, the addedbeans , I don't remember it had beans before, elaboration of the other products was bad and for bad luck I started eaten for theend that only with beans, I found later the veggies and for last 3 or 4 fibers of meet. It was so disappointed. Read more

It was alright. But they're no longer the best. I remember this spot as being THE BEST back in the day but my standards for... taste and texture have changed and I'm sure their quality has as well. 10-15 years ago sombreros was a big deal. We would evendrive out of our way to go. Everyone agreed too, it was everything. As for today?? Well, The drive through is open 24hours(that's a positive) but the dining room closes at a normal hour. (Standard i guess) I definitely miss the days when taco shopskept their dining rooms open late night and drunk people had somewhere safe to eat that wasn't in the car. The Californiaburrito i ordered was only okay. Ehh, nah it sucked. Not good by my standards. The potatoes they used were ambiguous and tastedoff.. I couldn't tell if they were home fries or French fries or what. They were way undercooked yet overcooked and mushy (NOTCRISPY CRUNCHY AS THEY SHOULD BE) and the Carne asada didn't taste good. I finished it for sure because i paid premium pricesBut I didn't enjoy it. Nope I won't be ordering from them anymore. Also I had to catch the oil dripping out of my burrito withthe low quality napkin they gave me. Read more
