Saturday was my first time in Elgin, and I googled something to eat since I traveled over an hour for a funeral. This place... popped up. Boy am I glad it did. Sweet potatoes and banana pudding was better than average. But baby thee best Mac n cheese froma soul food restaurant I've ever had. The fried chicken was seasoned and cooked to perfection and dipping it in Moni's saucejust made it pop even more. They gave plenty of food it was well worth what I spent. I was upset toward to end of my mealbecause I realized I did not live in this area and wouldn't frequently visit. But I've already told fam/friends about and willreturn if I'm ever within 20-30 mins. Excellent soul food - excellent service! My in-laws discovered this spot on a walk through downtown Elgin and came home with... food that smelled so good I had to go try it for myself and I was not disappointed! Chicken wings are off the hook with Moni's special sauce.
Sweet Potatoes was yummy. Everything else was pretty good. The greens could have been cooked longer. But, they were nice and... spicy! Fried chick was well cooked. Overall, good experience and will return when in town. Read more
