So I called today (8/18) to make reservations for a party of 4 on a Tuesday night (8/27) for dinner at 5pm. The guy who... answered the phone said he would have to call me back because he was supposed to have a large party that night. He did call meback and told me he couldn?t take my reservation because he had a party of 30 that night for dinner and he couldn?t accommodatemy party of four reservation. I was confused because I know they have about six or seven different rooms of tables and wasn?tsure how a party of 30 would prevent my party of four from having dinner there at 5pm. He told me he only has enough staff toserve the party. I?m not even sure how this establishment can stay open if they can only serve 30 people on a Tuesday night. Extremely sad. Read more

An absolute gem in Southern Jersey. First of all, the restaurant is the 3rd oldest in the United States, over 300 years old so... you get a cozy colonial atmosphere. If the history isn't enough for you, the food is excellent. I had brisket egg rolls as myappetizer served with an au jus sauce and horseradish. The garlic house salad is so good, bursting with freshness and flavor.Finally, I had the New York Strip steak with fries. The fries were crispy and nicely well done while the steak was delectable.Just a perfect cut of meat, perfectly cooked. We have a great time chatting with the owner and our wonderful bartender who hitus off with some historical cocktails, including a Devil's Whiskers. It was a great way to top off our evening.
