These sandwiches are a cut above. It's so rare to find a good old fashioned sandwich shop anymore, a non-chain that uses quality ingredients - this is one of those rare finds. Our sandwiches were so good this visit that we let out more than one contented sigh while enjoying them. There are multiple delicious vegetarian options on the menu as well. They are very busy during the tourist season and there's usually a wait, but they give you a pager so you don't have to just stand there and our wait has never been excessive. It's a must for us when in the Sleeping Bear region in the summer.
Good lunch stop today at Shipwreck Cafe! The staff were working super hard to get sandwiches out quick, and were very friendly. I loved my vegetarian sandwich - the marinated peppers and pretzel bun were amazing. Next time I?d ask for mustard on the side though, as it became a little much. My husband said his turkey sandwich was good, but dry, and that my sandwich was more flavorful. We sat outside, which was nice, but we wished for umbrellas on the tables. Just be prepared to sit directly in the hot sun! Overall good, and we?ll be back when we?re in Empire again ?
Great little cafe with yummy sandwiches! Lots of reading about ships that wrecked in Lake Michigan! Good service and friendly atmosphere. Seating only outside.
We made it here for lunch. The sandwiches were really good would definitely be interested in trying out their breakfast. The service was also really good. Employees were friendly and got everything out pretty quick even though it was starting to get busy.
Really enjoyed the rouse Simmons sandwich after hiking around the dunes. Was pretty good! Pretzel bread is really good, roast beef had great flavor and was not stringy or tough. All veg toppings were fresh. Everything was made quickly and perfectly. Decor is pretty cute, everything to do with shipwrecks obviously, lots of neat maps
Locally family owned. Fantastic homemade sandwiches using fresh ingredients. All the various dressings used are homemade also. The place does not look like much and you could very easily drive right past it. Make sure you don't! They're homemade seafood chowder is some of the best I have ever had.
Limited selection of sandwiches and wraps but very friendly staff!! My Fog Horn breakfast wrap was amazing!! I'll be back for lunch and maybe even dinner!! Thanks!
Passing through here, heading to Sleeping Bear, and we LOVE to find little local places to eat. This place was busy, so we figured it had to be good! There is no indoor seating, it's all outdoors, which was perfect for us! The staff was super friendly and helpful, despite being so so busy when we arrived. Everyone was smiling and happy, and they were happy to offer suggestions of the best sandwiches to try out. This place is just adorable! I love how it's set up, and how cute it is! We ordered our food, and got a buzzer so we would be notified when it was finished. We had our pups with us, and even got a small kids sandwich for them to share! I just love how accommodating they were to all of my questions and how friendly everyone was! I found the price to be very fair for the food we got! I want to go back just to eat here again!
