My roommates and I were having a rough, cold, rainy day so we opted for a takeout Curry Mantra dinner. The online ordering was... efficient and simple, and it was prepared and ready for pickup on schedule. The gentleman at the front took my first name andconfirmed with my first and last name on the receipt to avoid any mixed up orders (I appreciate this little clarificationgreatly as I have received wrong orders at other restaurants many times due to this error). He also politely answered a questionI had concerning an invalid coupon (error on my behalf). Everything was neatly packaged (and labeled accordingly!!) and it waspiping hot, perfect for a chilly day. I cannot speak to the authenticity as this was my first time trying Indian cuisine but asa culinary student myself I can recognize when time, effort, and care is put into a dish… and the samosas, chicken curry,chicken tikka masala, butter chicken, as well as their assortment of tandoori breads all displayed those qualities. As collegestudents we aim for good food at good prices, and we feel Curry Mantra gave us that experience. The portions are generous,especially considering the food itself is very hearty (we all had leftovers). I think it’s also important to note that small,local, and expanding businesses have been significantly impacted by world events within the past few years so try to beunderstanding if you feel differently. I don’t think I have ever written a review for a restaurant before, and certainlynever this long winded. But between the amazing customer service and the incredible heartwarming food my roommates and Ireceived, Curry Mantra without a doubt earned this review. If you made it this far in the review, give it a shot and see foryourself. One of the best kept secrets in Fairfax! Best tasting Indian food in Northern Virginia. The Chicken 65 appetizer and Butter... Chicken curry are must-haves. Try this restaurant and I'll bet you'll soon add it to your all-time favorite places to eat. Read more
Customer service was bad. Food tasted terrible. Lamb was Not tender and also was really dry., samosas were old, chicken tikka... looked like blood and the chicken was so dry it gave me migraines. The men didn’t even ask us to sign the receipt because knew wouldn’t get a tip. Think about how aware you have to be of how rude you are to customers in order to not even try toget a tip. They charged extra for everything including rice and raita (which was overly sour) although we ordered 4 curries. Theshahi paneer came with 6 thin pieces of paneer. I am so disappointed in this restaurant. Curry Mantra used to be one of my favorite restaurants, however this evening I ordered... Boka Kabob And the lamb was pro quality and very tough. Clearly this lamb was not slow cooked for 24 hours as they advertised. Iam hoping this is a one time only event, but perhaps energy prices have gotten in the way of slow cooking food for 24 hours. Ordered via delivery app. Entrees were satisfactory however, I was extremely disappointed with the pista kulfi ice cream... portion. For 5.95 they gave me a condiment sized cup. They packaged it inside a larger styrofoam bowl with ice and put it insame bag as hot food. Not sure why they don’t put it directly in foam bowl and put it in its own bag. Or state clearly on menuthat is is only like 3oz. Read more
