We like this restaurant. Beer, food, kids menu all are good. Friday nights they have live music. Not fancy and cool. Recommended

I visited on a relatively quiet Friday night after happy hour to get a late dinner. Dogfish has gone through some changes with... consolidating their menu in the past couple of years and closing their Falls Church location. The vibe at the Fairfax locationlooks distinctly local with mostly people from the surrounding neighborhoods gathering, including families. The barkeeps areconsistently attentive, friendly, and conversational. Service was well paced until the end when as explained to me a lone one ortwo remaining kitchen staff got behind on orders which to me was quite understandable. I ordered some favorites and classicsfrom this location: wings, burger and fries with a couple of add-on toppings, and some dessert in the form of a light applecrisp. Wings had good buffalo sauce flavor and portioned well (10). The majority had crisp skin with a few needing a little morefrying to get the same texture. The burger was cooked as requested to medium rare and had a nice balance of accompanyingvegetables including the roasted red peppers and caramelized onions. The ability to customize sandwiches with the toppings listthey offer allows me to add more flavor, particularly with the char from the roasted red peppers or saltiness from bacon when inthe mood. The bun could have been toasted a little more for my taste, but overall I enjoyed this sandwich as a slightly lighterversion of the more traditional hamburger (their version of a traditional hamburger tastes good too to be sure). Fries werewarm, crispy, and not over salted. I almost went for some shrimp tacos but decided to go for the apple crisp instead to end. This version has a nice simplicity of combing apples with an oat topping and a good scoop of vanilla ice cream with a caramelsauce drizzle. I like the straightforward nature of this longtime dessert that lets me taste sweet apples with a relativelyguilt free topping and ice cream that maintains its shape until the end. My total bill along with a multipl Read more
