My family and I were visiting Fernandina Beach while on vacation from Virginia. We enjoy Thai food and have tried many... restaurants in Virginia, North Carolina and elsewhere. We are all vegetarian, so we usually call ahead to verify what items wecan actually order. We arrived to find Thai Spice Cafe to be a cozy, clean, and welcoming little restaurant. The hostess atthe front counter was friendly and helpful, and we were immediately seated?no waiting. We were quickly approached and gave ourdrink orders. Ordering and payment are done at the front counter, not by speaking to your server. The menu is broad anddescriptive. Plenty of choices for everyone. I gave our order and was surprised at how quickly the food arrived. Portionsizes were just right for our family of four. The best part of the meal were the flavors and spice levels of the food. Mywife and children agreed that this was some of the best Thai food we had experienced in a long time. The food had just theright level of ?kick? to enhance the flavors without being overwhelming. The server checked on us multiple times and kept ourdrinks refilled. We ate everything and left the restaurant very satisfied. We will definitely be returning on our next trip toFernandina Beach. Service was nice but the food was lacking. The chicken in our dishes had a strange texture and was more than likely precooked or... out of a package. Flavors were average and have certainly had better. Hopefully this was just an off night for them and not thenorm based on the previous reviews. Read more
