Our stay in Lumber One was definitely unique. The space was beautiful and clean. The bar in the main lounge area was lovely and... a pleasant way for us to end our evening with a nightcap. The room, however, was not soundproof which we unfortunatelydiscovered late at night. There was no curfew in the main lounge area and some of the other guests took advantage of that so weheard non-stop stomping up and down the staircase as well as people laughing, yelling, and drinking for hours beginning around11 PM. Even after the crowd was instructed to clear the main area and go to their rooms, they still laughed and shouted in theirnon-soundproof rooms until 2 AM. Needless to say we didn?t get any restful sleep that night and were quite frustrated by theexperience. We?ve stayed in some strange hostels around the world that were quieter and had better quiet hour policies.Unfortunately, we cannot recommend this place to others given that the expense of our one night stay was not worth the lack ofsleep and frustration. This is such a perfect place for a North Alabama getaway! It's a repurposed old Cadillac factory, and they have kept some of the... elements of the old factory and used them in clever ways. There's a beautiful bar and lounge/living room/hangout area as soon asyou walk up the stairs, and the suites are all located around this setting. I had the Muscle Shoals Sound suite and it was a fundesign but also very comfortable and outfitted with everything needed during my stay. Everyone was nice and accommodating, and Igot to enjoy the bar for a bit, of course. I only wish I could've stayed longer! Read more

I have always loved the bar at GR and decided to book a room for the weekend of my high school reunion. Check in and out... couldn't have been easier! Single Lock and all the other suites I had a chance to view were all very well appointed. The bedwas super comfy and the balcony above Tennessee St afforded a great view. And the shower water pressure did not disappoint. Myfriends were impressed and comfortable visiting. The only small drawbacks were that the bar was not open very late. I assumedthat might have been to lessen the noise for surrounding room guests and my thermostat was a little tricky. I live in Florence;but my stay was definitely a nice retreat and I felt like I was on vacation. I'll be back to experience another suite, soon. Thank you, Brad Read more

We LOVED our stay! The room was beautiful and we really enjoyed our bartender. It was so cool to have the bar just outside of... our room for these weary travelers. We loved that. The room was super cute. We ended up staying in the Muscle Shoals roominstead of the 2 bedroom setup due to plumbing issues, but we were happy. Only suggestion is that extra sheets should have beenobviously provided. We had to use the pullout and didn't notice that sheets were not in the room until after the bartender hadleft. We had to improvise and use blankets. Other than that, we had a great time! We would definitely stay again. It was alovely experience. Read more
