Upon recommendation, we had lunch at The Hukilau. Based on food, experience, friendly service, and atmosphere, we returned a... second time in our 4 day trip. We tried the Hawaiian Catch Plate, Pele's Volcano Chicken, Spicy Crab Roll, Pickled Veggies,Katsu Chicken Fingers and of course Mai Tais. The food was fresh and the portions were quite generous. My favorite is thecombination of unique flavors especially in the Hawaiian Catch, some daily specials, and pickled veggies. We enjoyed therestaurant so much that we purchased a shirt for me and a baseball cap for my husband. Next time we visit Florence, this placeis a definite stop. Read more
What a local gem of a restaurant! And a treat to have such a nice team helping your customers enjoy the food you make. We walked... in at a busy time and quite late, only 45 minutes befrore closing. We were greeted and treated like long time friends, sat atthe bar and got served very quickly. We even received a random treat of a dish the chef made for someone who did not want it. Itwas amazing! We enjoyed a fantastic lunch on a busy Saturday. We ordered the Kiska Roll, the Big Money California Roll, Thai Peanut Mango... Chicken, and the #8 plate with Fried Prawns & Kailua Pork. Everything was so good. We had a bit of a wait, but they were busywith the Rhody Festival crowd and we had awesome drinks to enjoy while we waited. They even brought a pickled veggie dish toenjoy while we waited. We sat outside with our pupper and would highly recommend a visit here when in Florence. I was stationed in Hawaii while in the Military and loved Hawaiian food. I miss it so much and it's been a decade or so since... I've eaten "true Hawaiian food"! I came across this little gem while vacationing in Oregon. Let me tell you, it was absolutelydelicious and how I remembered it tasting. The true test was the macaroni salad....it's unique and a staple in every dish inHawaii...well...I'm here to say, it passed- hands down... it was so good and flavor- ful!!!!
