An Absolute Staple - If you've come to Fredericksburg and choose any lunch spot over Old German Bakery, I'm afraid you'll have... to come back. This spot us magnificent. I ordered the three sausage plate and ditched the pan fries for the warm German potatosalad. I don't think I've ever made a better decision in my life. This meal was SPECTACULAR. After driving 4 hours from Big Spring, got there in time to load up on pastries, then had a great lunch. Plenty to have carry... out. They open at 7 am; and if you think about getting ready to go there on Saturday at seven, by the time you get there; ALLtables are filled and you will be waiting. We went back an Saturday and inside by 7:15 AM, and 1/3 of the tables were taken. Gotlots of fresh pastries. Read more

Outstanding Schnitzel, excellent burgers, great breakfast, fantastic pastries. That's just the food. Coffee was hot and fresh... each time I went and the service was always on par or better than you would expect in a packed restaurant. Would be nice if theybrewed sweet tea with this being Texas, but that's about the only thing Old German Bakery could do to be better. Read more

Oh you German pancakes. Where have you been all my life? Authentic, delicious and always packed on the weekends which says it... all. Go on a weekday morning if you can get right in for some incredible breakfast. Just don't do what I did and order a stackof 3 German pancakes. It's easily enough food for two people. Read more
