My husband and I stopped here traveling back home, hoping for a nice dinner. We were both very pleased with our meal. Luckily,... we were able to seated without reservations (it was a Tuesday night). the atmosphere was charming, food was full of flavor, winewas perfect. We ordered the stuffed mushrooms to share. I ordered the Gnocchi alla Sorrentina with a glass of Moscato D'Asti. Myhusband had the Fettuccine al Pescatore with a bottled Yingling. What a cute and sweet restaurant! The service was great and the servers were so attentive. Very intimate and quiet restaurant,... great for a date night. Not from the area and I love to travel and review different restaurants. This was a lovely experience.Homemade pasta and the dishes were traditional Italian dishes. Osteria Maria is The best Italian restaurants and I'm not only saying that because they make Ricotta Gnocchi. The food is... outstanding the service is one on one and they make you feel at home. They take time out to talk to everyone and that's whatmakes this more then restaurant. The atmosphere is beautiful. I do recommend making a reservation though. We did and after weshowed up it filled it pretty fast. I give them a 15 out of 10. I only wish I had room for dessert and coffee. I think I mightstop by one of these days just for that. I am so thankful that I found the many positive reviews that Yelp had hidden away for some reason! We were visiting Front Royal... and Shenandoah National Park and were looking for a nice dinner out. Osteria Maria did not disappoint!! Our food was so good! Arugula salad, steamed muscles in a decadent garlic white wine broth (and fresh, crusty bread for sopping it all up!), gnocchiin homemade tomato sauce with fresh mozzarella, homemade ravioli - also in a tomato sauce that was lightly spiced with cayennepepper from the chef's garden. That sauce was perfectly balanced with lovely flavor. Great wine selection, too. The staffwere super friendly and helpful - we enjoyed chatting with our waitress and the family at the next table. Turns out, she wasthe chef's wife with their beautiful daughter. Everything about our visit was lovely! I have to say, our meal rivaled someothers we've had in "Little Italy" in Boston and New York! If we were local, this would be a favorite restaurant, for sure! Read more
