I had just been released from Sibley Hospital and was very hungry! The staff was so flexible with serving me breakfast a couple... minutes after 11am, just wonderful cause my stomach was sensitive. I was very excited to try this little cafe after reading all the positive reviews. That excitement quickly faded away as soon as... I stepped foot in Kristina's. The lady at the cashier wasn't thrilled that there was a customer that needed to behelped...Unprofessional, but I can deal with that. I proceeded to order a sandwich and specifically said without sausage becauseI'm vegetarian and asked what I could substitute it with and asked for veggies. She said she'd have to ask the kitchen. Afterokaying it with the kitchen, she returned and was waiting on me to proceed with the order, so I went ahead and asked her whatoptions I have, what veggies and she just simply sighed..again that's fine. So I asked her if they had broccoli and she saidno...sun-dried tomatoes was also a no. I paused and asked so what veggies they do carry and she said she doesn't know, and againwith another not so friendly sigh. I didn't want to make a big deal so I just said I'll have the sandwich just without thesausage and I no longer wanted to substitute with anything. In the meantime, I ordered some OJ, and sure enough..they don't havethat either. So I went for tea. She gave me the choice of sachet/flavor and when I picked it out she grabbed it out of my hand.I told her I'd like to steep it myself, but she did it for me anyway :)...I can deal with that too. The food finally comes outand my sandwich has sausage in it! I told her I wanted no sausage and she proceeds to tell me that it's pork sausage..I saidyeah it doesn't matter what type, I just can't have sausage. She unhappily returns the plate to the kitchen, and in less thantwo minutes I have my sandwich back without the sausage (which was obviously just removed from the sandwich and that same exactsandwich was sent out to the table again). This is a great little cafe with delicious food. I was actually surprised cause it's right next to my place in a residential... neighborhood. The staff is friendly and they do offer a student discount. Definitely the best breakfast place I've been to in DCthough. Read more
