Menu for DeSoto House Hotel in Galena, IL

Love the hotel. Love the history, the location and close proximity to everything on Main Street. There are Restaurants, shops ... and bars in DeSoto House. It also has a covered parking garage.. staff is awesome! The only issue and reason for 4 stars versus5... it is hard to sleep. If you are on 2nd floor, it sounds like the people above you are about to come through the ceiling. Wewere originally placed by elevators and had to move as I barely slept at all. They were very accommodating. People in the halltalk loudly and slam doors and it was a little much. When I come back, I think being on the 3rd floor would be optimal. One of the most unique hotels we?ve ever stayed in! We were pleasantly surprised at the spacious accommodations! The ceilings... were high, and there was ample room for the beds, a couple chairs and table, tons of walking space, and large bathroom. The roomwas incredibly clean and airy with huge floor to ceiling windows letting in tons of natural light. The history of the hotel iswonderful, and we were so happy with the combination of old style with modern accommodations and conveniences. The service wasamazing and the staff was committed to making our stay as comfortable as possible. Beautiful hotel, wonderful location, andgreat service! We would love to come back!! Read more

Hey now, talk about a cool place with the best service. Walked in on a weekday about 8, the decor was gorgeous. The antiques and... pictures transport you into an old time world. The history of the hotel is quite intriguing you must read up on it. The foodand service was wonderful, our lovely server was knowledgeable on their menu items and didn't miss a beat. She was outstanding.I'm sorry I forgot her name, perhaps, Cindy / Sherry? All over a memorable evening in the General's Restaurant on the lowerlevel of the DeSoto Hotel. Really enjoyed our stay at the hotel. The room was very cool and comfortable. Lots of history and great info. The courtyard cafe... was great. The staff and food were amazing. We are looking forward to planning our next weekend away here soon. I recommendplanning extra time to go shopping on main street and take one of the tours for sure. Read more

This is such a cool place to stay. It's right on Main St so you can access shops easily without worrying about parking. Rooms... were quiet and clean. The story of the hotel was neat too. We watched a couple of DVDs about the history and it was sointeresting! Read more
