We got a reservation for the 12-course tasting menu with wine pairing and sat outside on the patio. What a perfect evening it was! The food was expertly crafted with local ingredients and the different wine carefully selected from the best wineries in BC. We can?t wait to go back next time we are on Galiano. Definitely the best food experience I had in British Columbia so far.
Pilgrimme is a unique concept bistro. Its tucked away in a quiet, forested part of the island with a relaxed vibe. The ladies who sat me down were very friendly and explained that they source local ingredients from around the island and their menu changes based around what?s available at the time. It?s also the reason they?re not able to do substitutions for things so expect to order and eat what?s on the menu, it?s perhaps not a friendly dining option for someone with a limited diet or allergies. It was a cool June evening (come early, I reached at 515 pm almost right after they opened) and saw that they warned groups coming in after me that it would be about an hour wait. There isn?t a place to wait and have a few drinks, it?s a smaller restaurant with limited space. They take their time with things so this is not a dine and dash place (and shouldn?t be either because it seems they put alot of love and creativity into their menu). I ordered the tuna and duck egg with arugula and it was very nice. For dessert the vanilla pudding with a mix of a compote , strawberries, some sort of mixed candied nuts was awesome! I appreciated the shawls for outdoor guests. Lovely setting that allows one to relax and slow their pace for a minute!
I don't know what to say..... I was very sad they put away the testing menu...... But the new menu was soooooo good, We had amazing evening. The food was amazing, if you are in Galiano island must to try this restaurant. Rhubarb Galette was my favorite which no on the menu. Highly recommended come eat at Pilgrimme!!!!! I know people come to Galiano for sightseeing, but really, I came to Galiano for Pilgrimme! Good news is now you don't make reservation till they changed their mind ?
World class restaurant, tucked away in a beautiful rustic cabin on Galiano Island. This restaurant is worth making a trip to the island for and would be worthy of a couple michelin stars if they existed in Canada. I'll be revisiting every time I'm on Galiano.
What more can be said that hasn?t been said already? Solid 5 stars. I would give more if I could. Thoughtful care and attention to every detail and sensation. One of the highlights of our trip to Galiano.
Excellent pairings , very well thought out combinations and fantastic craftsmanship. Truly a gastronomic adventure filled with great textures, and flavors that will tease your taste buds and workout your olfactory nerve. Well worth the price of admission.
One of the best dining experiences I've had in a long time. An incredible setting in a lovely cabin in the woods, friendly and knowledgeable staff and most importantly: incredibly delicious food. Everything was packed with flavor and texture and used a ton of local ingredients. We didn't leave one crumb on our plates and basically had to be rolled out as we were so full by the end. It's not a cheap night out but also not crazy expensive. Regardless, I'd gladly pay it every time for a dining experience like this.
Pilgrimme offers a truly inspiring dining experience from start to finish, echoing the locavore approach pioneered by Noma. No wonder it's hard to book a table even in low season. The menu is short but every option is tempting in its own, unique way. The rustic atmosphere and an open-kitchen concept contribute a lot to the experience, creating an invigorating mixture of aromas, sounds, tactile feelings and emotions. Speaking of food ? it's exceptional. Every course brought a surprise, either in a way of cooking the simple ingredients listed in the menu, or in a way of serving. It's incredibly hard to focus the menu on local ingredients in the midst of the winter but Pilgrimme surpassed our expectations across the board, from the appetizers to desserts. It's a good thing that you need to take a trip across the water to Galiano island to reach Pilgrimme. Otherwise it would be next to impossible to book a table there.
If it's great eclectic food that you're after try pilgrimme in Galiano Island. Discover some of the most interesting menus in town. Try our specials and you'll be back for more. Call us and we'll save the best table in town.
