Came across this place just as soon as we pulled into Galveston. I'm not big on chain restaurants, but I had a good time here.... It has all the typical tourist stuff tou might find on the seawall in Galveston including a gift shop. However, the food wasgood and the service was outstanding. There were people in our group who had complicated orders. The server memorized them alldown to the most minute detail. Amazing. I had the fish and chips which was tasty and not dried out or worst yet, greasy. Idon't remember what my partners had, but it looked food and they seemed to like it. On our travels to Galveston's Beach front, we stopped by Joe's Crab Shack for lunch. What a great decision. First off, we had a... large 3-car family and they were very accommodating. The food was delicious and the servers were amazing. Based on the server'srecommendation, I got the Fish and Chips. The batter on the fish was very crispy. The fish was tender and flakey. These are somevery good fried fish. The fries were fresh fried with skin on. They were decent. My wife had the Fish and Sausage Po'Boy. Thecombination was interesting, but rest assured the Po'Boy was delicious. I would order that next time in fact. The medallionfried pickles were so good that I would order it as a side. One of our family members offered me to try their Captain'sCalamari. The fried calamari was crispy and flavorful. If you like calamari, Joe's Crab Shack does a great job. One of the manykids ordered Rockin' Popcorn Shrimp with fries. Despite a kids menu item, they were good. I would order these myself toeat. I am giving them a 5 for the experience. In being honest, the food was just what you would expect from any Joe's Crab Shack. It... was not spectacular but I was not sorry I ate it. :) The kitchen was amazing, there is only so much you can do with a chainmenu. But my experience was over the top. I needed to be around people after a difficult day and I wanted somewhere nearby andwith a patio so I could bring my puppy. When I arrived, the patio was closed due to staffing and I was so disappointed but themanager came over and offered to seat me out there and serve me himself so I would not have to be turned away. He was very niceand made me feel at home and I met two of the waitresses that were also very sweet and attentive. It was exactly what I neededafter the day I had. Thank y'all so much! When we sat down we asked what the prices were and was told they only have the steamer, queen and king crab. We then asked what... the difference was because we had no idea what the difference between the queen and king crab was and all he told us was prices.So we ordered the queen for both no sausage a lobster tail on side for me and clams for my husband. The food was delicious butmy tail was just a bit over cooked. Anyways we finished and washed up and the waiter brought us our check. Upon looking at it wewere charged for the king crab. The manager argued some with us about what was what, but in the end ended up taking ourappetizer off, the lobster tail and the clams. It wasn't bad food just not very good service. Read more
