In many ways, the decor felt well suited to a proper steak house. The food is broadly excellent. I don't think any of the four... of our group would say that any part of our meal choices were "just good". Flavors were very good, no overwhelming seasoning. Not inexpensive, but it really was an impressive, satisfying dinner. Read more

Fine dining at it's best! I wanted to try everything on the menu. The French onion soup was made traditionally and was... delicious. So good, i forgot to mention how good the drinks are. The chocolate martini and bourbon old fashioned, absolutelyperfect. We also had the ravioli, asparagus, mushrooms, and the elk(limited time). All were great! I'm looking forward totrying the ribeye next time. The staff also makes you feel very welcome, and the restaurant has a very comfortable atmosphere! We hope to be back soon! Read more

This has been our go to special occasion restaurant for years. The history, ambiance, location all make for a unique dining... experience. And the biggest surprise has always been fabulous food and attentive waitstaff. Unfortunately, our most recentexperience was anything but. We were seated upstairs next to a large party. Our waitress came by to take drink orders fairlypromptly and offered appetizers but we had to ask about the menu. She didn't seem to know much about the menu except said thenew management were "rock stars." After we ordered, we waited an hour for our main course. Two of us had salmon, one scallops, one beef and one seafood special. The food was a big disappointment. It's one thing to spend $350 for really creative highquality food and great service but not for what we got. Reading other reviews makes me think this was a "one off" experiencebut it will be a long time before we try this place again. Read more

We called last minute on a Friday afternoon and they found some room for us to get in about 2 hours later for my wife’s... birthday. We arrived and were seated immediately. Service from hostess and our server (Karin B) was friendly and attentivethroughout the night. We started with some drinks from a pretty extensive wine list and had a fabulous appetizer of themushroom tart. For our main meal, I ordered the surf/turf special and my wife had the ribeye. Both were cooked perfectly atmedium rare. We had ours done normal but there is an option for blackened or blue cheese crusted which also sounded good. Wehad one served with potato purée and the other some type of french flakey potato side that was excellent as well and may be mynew favorite potato side. To top off the night, In addition to the little birthday dessert we also had a peanut buttercheesecake that really hit the spot too… Overall it was a great dinner in a cozy Genesee Depot restaurant. It is on theexpensive side as our meal for two came to $275 (including drinks and tip) but we did have two of the most expensive items onthe menu and we knew the pricing going in, so it wasn’t a surprise. Their pricing is really on par with the other fine diningrestaurants in the area and the service and food here was superb. We’ve always frequented Bartolotta’s restaurants over theyears for family events, but I think The Union House will be our new go to spot for friends, birthdays and anniversaries goingforward. Overall just a great night, great food at a great place. Read more
