Great place to stop while shopping downtown Gettysburg. Sit outside in the early evening for a cooler experience. Recommend... trying the different burgers. This trip I had the 1st Maryland and it was great. We had a confederate sharpshooter and a Rachaelto go with dinner. The other was a Grant burger and it was good as well. Dessert was shoe fly pie and it did not disappoint atall. Staff were busy but treated us very well and were pleasant. Not minding that we ordered dessert so close to closing and forthat I apologize again. We would not have even known the closing was so near if I wouldn't have asked. Ate at the restaurant. While the atmosphere and food were wonderful, we didn't even get our entrees for 90 minutes. The... explanation was our appetizer took a long time and while that may be true, that should not matter as far as how long the entreetakes. People seated near us all were finished and left before our entrees arrived. We also spoke to a manager who acted like itwas no big deal and did not seem to care. I only had dinner here so I cannot comment on the rooms. The food and atmosphere were nothing short of excellent. The staff were... very friendly and knowledgeable about the history of The Farnsworth House Inn. We came across this establishment by "accident."My family's name (my mother's father) is Farnsworth, so obviously I was intrigued. Now to do a little historical research. Read more
