Great pizza. Gets to be loud place and more towards bar earlier than other bars.
I was in town to visit the lighthouse and falls. I was exhausted and hangry! Found this fantastic little tavern by chance and... decided to give it a try. Pizza was amazing. Salad bar opinion, and great drinks! They get busy due to tourists but they had thefood out in a timely manner! Read more
The Grand Marais Tavern was a great place for dinner as an out-of-towner. We stopped in on a Wednesday night and the place was... packed but we were able to find an open table right away. The pizza was fantastic. The crust is thicker on the edges with theright amount of garlic butter. Overall it tasted fresh and home made. The service was prompt and Bonnie (our server) was great. We were spending the night at Grand Marais and were looking for places to eat around 9 pm. I checked the restaurant, I liked the... decor and everything, so we decided to go there. When I entered the restaurant, the waitress there bumped into me and just leftsaying nothing. One of the customers who was leaving told us that we have to seat ourselves. We sat down and no one came to thetable for 15 minutes and I could see the bartender asking the waitress to go attend us but she just shrugged and went aroundsitting at the bar and chatting with other people. Her reactions were so hateful towards us. Another waitress came andapologized to us and served us but she too took her sweet time. I was losing my patience at that point and it was showing rightin my face that the second waitress came and gave me a seltzer on the house. She was kind of nice, at least. But again, we hadto wait for our cheques for 15 minutes again as every staff was more into chatting with the locals who came in, instead ofserving the customers. The worst moment of the trip. I was just waiting for the moment to just walk out the door as soon as Icould because the tavern was not at all welcoming. Read more
