Several months ago on June 24th, I thought I?d give this restaurant a try. I?ve visited the buffet next door several times and... was in the mood for a different type of Mexican food. I decided to go basic, so I decided to get the 5 Beef Tacos. My roommatewanted some chips and salsa with guacamole. When I arrived home 10 minutes later to eat the food I had purchased, I was highlydisappointed. I had considered grabbing Taco Bueno earlier in the day and just over 5 months later, I?m still regretting mydecision. I?m not sure if the reason this restaurant receives high ratings, is because it brings back a lot of memories forthose who grew up in Grand Prairie. But for someone who didn?t, I don?t have those memories, so I can only base my experience onthe food. Regarding the food, the taco shell, cheese and lettuce were decent. However, the beef didn?t seem like it wasseasoned at all. It was very bland. I put some of the habanero salsa on my taco, but the salsa wasn?t very good either. Myroommate and I both thought that the salsa wasn?t fresh and it seemed as if the batch may have been made weeks prior and neededto be tossed out. The chips that came with the guacamole and habanero salsa were also stale. I ended up throwing out half of mymeal, because it just wasn?t good. I?m not sure if I ordered the wrong food on a bad day, but even on a bad day, I?d expect itto be much better than it was. The only thing I liked about the restaurant is the retro signage and old style menu boards. I?lldefinitely update the review if I decide to give Don Juan?s another chance, but months later, it?s not looking like that willhappen. Read more
My wife and I enjoy Mexican food, but this place just didn?t make us want to come back. The chips were a little stale. The... all-meat burrito plate, was literally taco meat burrito with one piece of chicken fajita in it and a bag of chips. I was kindadisappointed. An original! Not too crowded. Food was fast and good. Needs hotter hot sauce. Not the same as other Tex-Mex places that you... get free chips/salsa all meal. Just visited Grand Prairie and stopped for a bite, the service was fast but not too friendly to me. Took my order to go and... wanted to make this review as I ventured back to Dallas. The menu looked very good good and people were in/out with bags ofgoodness. Would definitely recommend this location. Read more

The food, service and atmosphere has been consistently the exact same as it was in 1972 which is why I give this place 5star. Give this place a try and do not judge on location...this is one of Grand Praires oldest restaurants and still open for areason. Read more
