What the heck happened to Cracker Barrel? Their food used to be really good. I used to love their Country Fried Steak. My... husband and I stopped in the other day and I decided to order it. What I got was not at all what I'd had in the past. It used tobe real steak. What I got was a puck of ... definitely not steak. It seemed to be a thin, tasteless hamburger patty with anequally flavorless breading. It was a very over-processed, mass-produced 'food' item. The mashed potatoes had the flavor andconsistency of instant potatoes. I was SO disappointed. I'll never order it again. My husband got the meatloaf and enjoyedit. Terrible service by the hostess and Manager on duty. We had a party of 6 adults and 1 child The hostess ended up sitting 2 large... parties before us that had arrived after us. When asked how much longer we would have to wait. she had a snotty attitude andanswered "a bit" Then she tried sitting 6 large adults at a 4 top with one seat on the end where the seat on the end would bebut up against another customers chair in the walkway. We asked her to turn the table so we could fit and not disrupt the othercustomer and be in the walkway and she said she would have to talk to the manager and ran off. After a five minute wait, I tookit upon myself to rearrange the table. Then our server came over and she was the nicest and most friendly of the poor attitudesin that place. She took our drink orders and was on her way. Then the manager came over and asked if we had a problem with theway the seats were set. I told him yes, so we moved them so we could all sit comfortably and out of the walkway, and notdisturbing the other guest across from us. He started to argue that he wouldn't come into my home and change the furniture sowhat makes me think I could do that there. I explained the thoughtless setup his hostess had arranged to explain why we neededthings moved. And he replied if we have a problem we can leave the restaurant. Poor manager, we solved the problem his staffmade and he did not take time to correct for the customer. Seems that the customer is not important anymore. I know there areshortages in the serving industry but for those who are serving and have a bad attitude like these, should rethink the career inservice. We told him we were fine and he left. Amongst the other bad attitude and uncalled for remarks, how was he made aManager? Our server though was the best, she did not auction off the plates and was attentive to refills and food requests. It was my first time going to a Cracker Barrel and I wasn't quite sure what to expect. The eggs, grits(in my opinion but not my... husband's), traditional breakfast meats, and (especially) the hashbrown casserole was pretty good. The biscuits and gravy had anoff putting taste but maybe that's because I just moved here from Georgia? The sirloin not good. The atmosphere and servicegreat. The prices amazing. Take from that what you will. I would go back, but now I know what not to order. Worth it for theprice especially. I didn't even want that much food, it all just came with everything. Great value. Plenty of food for one great low price. My sister and I needed to go boxes to take all of this home. The food was... hot and tasty. The wait-staff was friendly and attentive. Long wait for a table, but we were able to waste the hour wait in thestore browsing. It's unfortunate that some store items are only available at the store and not online.
