Incredibly disappointed. We reserved 2 months ago and when we arrived we were told that they had set a table in the basement for... us because they had booked a cooking class in the main restaurant. We felt totally mistreated and made it clear to them thatthis was how we felt. They were completely indifferent to our position . We will never go back to this restaurant. This is theonly negative experience we have had while travelling in Newfoundland this past three weeks. Read more

One of the best and most unexpected dining experiences I have had in Newfoundland. Beautifully presented tasty and creative... Cajun-style food in a charming setting and served by the friendly (and fascinating!) proprietor. Definitely worth making thetrip and they deliver to St John's too. Since reviewing I went back for a weekend break - their accommodation was comfortableand we tried out the seaweed bath and zodiac tours they organize which were great fun. This Grates Cove establishment is outstanding. First, the fusion of the owners' Louisiana and Newfoundland heritages produces... delicious food. The menu is innovative, and the Seafood Étouffée and "Dirty Rice" checked all the boxes for us. Very upscale menu. Food was fantastic. Visited this Establishment with my parents. They were going to leave before ordering as... they are very traditional and didn't know anything on the menu. I asked the staff if they could make some fish and chips andthey said yes. I had the Dirty Rice and it was awesome. My parents really liked the fish and chips. Read more

Our stay at Grates Cove Studios was absolutely perfect for our family trip. Courtney was amazing, helpful, and incredibly... accommodating. We had everything we needed at the house, our view was spectacular, and the restaurant was sooo delicious!!! Wewill most definitely be returning one day!!
