So my wife and I were headed out of town from Columbia sc. Headed to Northcarolina mountains for our 1 year anniversary. We... found this place on Google maps and wanted to try it out. So we stopped for dinner here at Larkin's. I had the Elk and she hadFilet Mignon. The food was amazing the atmosphere was amazing and the service was amazing. John was our server and was perfectand on the spot. He wasn't to pushy and overcrowding yet he was always there when we needed something. This was my first time visiting this restaurant. The food was pretty basic in taste, nothing special. I felt it was a bit... overpriced, especially for the lack of flavor. My filet was charred on the outside and overcooked for medium on the inside. Thepotato was cold-butter and cheese were cold and not melted. The spinach was good. My boyfriend's ribeye was flavorless aswell. The service was also basic. Our waitress lacked personality and I felt like she was too busy to be bothered with ourrequests. Not especially friendly and not what you expect with fine dining. Took a long time bringing out drinks and barelychecked on us. There are several other options for downtown Greenville fine dining. I recommend going to one of thoserestaurants instead. Larkin's is overpriced and the service is not what you'd expect for a restaurant serving $50 steaks a lacarte. Read more

This was our first time eating here. I had reservations and requested seating by the window. When we arrived, they sat us... nowhere close to the window in a small booth made for children. That was strike 1 for me. Our waitress was not attentive andonly filled our glasses one time the entire time we were there. I would have flagged her down, but she was like a stealthyninja. She was gone as quick as she came. Strike 2 and 3. Lastly, I ordered the roasted rack of lamb. It came out charred on theoutside and nearly cold on the inside, very raw. These had to be the smallest racks ever, like this poor little guy had to stillbe nursing before it was taken. After waiting to notify our waitress who was no where around, I finally just ate what Icould. Side note, while we were waiting on our food some random guy from the restaurant just walked up to our table pulled outa tool and started scraping up crumbs, scrapped them onto a plate then just walked off. He never spoke, looked at us, oranything really weird. On a positive note I did see a few people who ordered steaks and they did look amazing. If we everrevisit, I'll definitely try one of those.
