It was a long day and after driving 16 hours from San Jose to Portland, we were missing some good home cooked Filipino Food. And... Kuya's Islander Cuisine did not disappoint. Food was served hot and crispy and full of that home style cooking. Everything weordered was delicious and did not expect to finish. The lumpia was hot crispy and meaty that we were so tempted to order more.Krispy para was to die for. We ordered 2. And dealt with it appropriately. Laing reminded me of home. The fried fish was worththe wait. The pork liempo was full of porky goodness and crispy and paired well with my beer and the sauce. The special Amanie'favourite was awesome. Everything was completely demolished. Did we mention the place itself was inviting and beautiful? Made uswant to stay there forever! (Sorry, i was so focused on the food) Food portions were not lacking at all, in fact we wereconcerned it would be too much... Lucky we really were hungry and the food was so delicious that finishing it was not a problem.Thank you Kuya's! A must stop over for Filipino food when ever visiting Oregon, or Portland, drop by kuya 's Islander Cuisine inGresham, Oregon. Read more

Very mixed feelings about this restaurant. After having grown up with excellent Filipino chefs, I'm extremely picky about... Filipino food and find it to be typically bland at restaurants. However, this restaurant makes surprisingly but wonderfullytasty food, especially the pancit bihon and the lechon kawali. Perfectly spiced and full of flavor. On the other hand, I wasdisappointed with the to-go service I received when I went there. Yes, they were busy, but it seemed like they were out of halfthe menu, which was quite unsatisfying and disappointing. Read more

Authentic food, I really enjoyed the halo halo. The mac salad was really good! Pretty much everything we ordered we enjoyed. It... just hit different, felt fresh and made to order. Nothing was cold or blah tasting. It was just an all around goodexperience. But seriously that halo halo was amazing. We will definitely be back. Read more
