The waitress was friendly and the food was good. I took away one star because the restaurant adds and automatic 20% "service... charge" to the bill. I always tip anyway, but do not like being forced to do it by the establishment, and may not return becauseof the poor business practice. If you like, charge 20% more for the food and pay your employees better with the profits, butautomatic service charges are for the birds. Read more

German restaurant with a good beer selection. Had the pork kotlet with mushroom sauce. The steak was juicy tender but sauce... was a bit off. Indoor and some outdoor seating available. Read more

Overall, we enjoyed our meal here. We?ve been excited to try this place for a while now, because we?ve traveled extensively in... Austria and Germany. I?m really torn whether to give three stars or four cuz our meal was very much a mixed bag. Most of whatwe ate was very good. We started off with the cheese Spätzle with speck (a type of ham), and then shared two meals: theschnitzel platter (with mushroom gravy on the side) and the wurst (bratwurst) platter, plus a half liter of Gewürztraminerwhite wine. The wine was excellent. The Spätzle tasted delicious, but was severely greasy/buttery. The schnitzel wasexcellent, a little disappointed it wasn?t veal but it was delicious so I didn?t care. The fries were crispy, the kraut wastasty and the hillbilly ketchup (curry ketchup) was spot on. The best part of the wurst platter was the sauerkraut, which is nota good situation. The brats were mediocre and the Kartoffelsalat was weird as hell. The potatoes were nearly raw and it was in adill cream sauce which was super strange to me. I?m accustomed to mostly vinegar based potato salads so I don?t know what?s upwith that. I don?t mind the mandatory gratuity when the service staff lets us know that it?s there, but not warning us upfrontleaves a terrible taste in my mouth and feels very unethical even if it was just a careless mistake. It?s a bad look. Read more

Cozy, upscale atmosphere with warm, romantic lighting and fun finishing touches (love the black walls and wicker lanterns, the... wooden wall installation mimicking the silhouette of the Alps, the quirky cuckoo clock wall, and the old black & white silentfilms projected on the back wall of the restaurant). The menu is fun and full of delicious options, including lots ofvegetarian friendly choices. Ingredients are fresh and high quality. Not sure what to make of other reviewers complaining aboutauthenticity ? we?re not in Germany. For a tiny town in rural Sonoma County, I think the folks at Bröt are doing a phenomenaljob with their ?modern German? fare. We love the schnitzel with mushroom Jaeger sauce, doner kebab pita, spätzle, pretzels, bread dumplings with lingonberry jam, brats with tasty mustards & sauerkraut, the potato salad, and the flammkuchen. The saladsare always good, too. Their beer list features classic German brews served in tall glasses, just the way they shouldbe. Service is excellent, also. Given that we?re a small town with limited staffing and a huge influx of tourists throughoutwarmer months, the team at Bröt does an excellent job under an immense amount of pressure. I have to think anyone herecomplaining about the service either visited on a night during staffing shortages, or perhaps were just difficult customers. Wevisit Bröt regularly and have never had a bad experience (though we have witnessed our share of high maintenance patrons). Asfor the 20% service charge other reviewers are griping about, we think it?s great. Saves us the trouble of calculating our tip,and helps ensure the servers and back of house staff are paid a living wage with benefits. In an area with high housing costsand few high paying jobs (mostly seasonal tourism-centric minimum wage gigs), it?s nice to see local employers looking out fortheir staff. It?s not like they?re trying to sneak it past you, either ? it?s printed clearly on all the menus, and they?re Read more

I lived in Germany for almost 4 years and found this restaurant to be delicious and the most authentic German restaurant I?ve... visited in the states. They had German beer served in the large quantities that we had come to expect from our time in Germany. They had a gluten free option for my wife which was great. The staff was nice and accommodating. I would definitely recommendthis place to my friends and anyone visiting this area. Read more
