We discovered this hidden gem on our last day in Gulf Shores. This is where the locals eat, skip the hype of all the tourist... spots. Wish we knew about this place sooner! Their breakfast was amazing. The staff was friendly and they knew almost all thelocals that came in, was a great vibe and a nice change of pace from all the busy spots on the beach. We ordered their shrimp &grits, peach cobbler French toast, and shrimp & crab omelet. I?m ready to go back to Gulf Shores just to order all these itemsagain! Read more
Visited for breakfast while on vacation. Beyond the absolute charm of The Ugly Diner, the food was delicious. It was my favorite... meal while visiting Gulf Shores. Prices were reasonable and the food was even better. Definitely worth checking out! There islimited seating and high demand, so I recommend getting there early. Amazing local diner. It's very small but has the best local feel. You seat yourself and the menu is written on the wall. We went... for breakfast, and it was absolutely delicious. We had the country fried steak and the Blue Plate. The bacon was cooked well andthe biscuits are massive. AND everything was reasonably priced. My husband and I got The breakfast of Denver Omelets and they were delicious! He ordered toast with his and it came with... sliced potatoes. I ordered a biscuit, it was huge and very good, but didn't realize I would be charged 75 more cents. Thatwasn't a problem with me but it might be to someone else. Neither one of us finished our potatoes, they seemed like they hadbeen overcooked by reheating. The sweet tea was good too. We had to wait 10 minutes or so to be seated. I'm not sure what thetime was but it was around 10 am on a Sunday. While we were eating, more people came in, being seated after a small wait. Fourpeople were waiting on the chairs provided for that when another couple and a single man (I don't know if more were with him)came in and were waiting when the waiter came by the front where they were standing and told them breakfast was only going to beserved for about 10 more minutes and he didn't know if he could get to them. Both the couple and the man left. I don't think myrating would have been half as high had I been one of them. We will certainly try eating there again in a future visit to GulfShores.
