Is it possible for a sushi roll to be too big? Eat at Akasaka Restaurant and find out. (Pictures included) Be careful when... ordering, because one of their rolls is likely to be 3 or even 4 times larger than any other sushi roll you might be used to.The food was good enough that I would eat there again, but not the highest quality sushi I have ever had, hence the 4 starreview. But per the my first statement, they really are almost too big. It was eat even one slice because of the size. Whenlooking at the menu, my first thought were the prices were quite high, but don?t let that fool you because you are more thangetting the value for the money. There were 4 of us and we made the mistake of ordering 3 rolls and a chicken Katsu, but wecould only finish one roll and the Katsu, so order accordingly. The service was good, although just slow enough to benoticeable. They were welcoming and genuinely looked like they liked working there, which is a plus for me. It is a bit of ahole in the wall and the interior could use some refreshing, but otherwise clean and respectable. You should feel comfortableeating here. Decent food, great value and smiling service. I would recommend this restaurant and I would come again. Just makesure you know what you are getting into with the rolls. Read more

Simply put, this place is small and feel old. Just don't let it bother you. The servers there are great. The prices are on the... high side but they are justified by the taste and the portions they serve. I have no problem coming back for more. I like thisplace. Read more

Been here many times over the years. Their fish is always super fresh and the servers are so attentive. Yes it can be a little... cramped, But it is worth it for the reasonable price and quantity and quality of the fish. Will be coming back as often as theyare here. BTW: lots of famous old celebs ate here too. Read more

This place is a hidden gem! For the prices and their dishes, it is worth so much to come here than any elevated sushi... restaurants. The chirashi bowl was like an upscale poke bowl. The cut of the sashimi is huge! Two people could share it! I sawother people ordered the sushi roll and omg, it was like 5x bigger than any normal size roll. Can?t wait to come back here! Read more

Well it has been over 10 years since I have reviewed this place. I was hesitant at first to come due to hearing that the... ownership has changed. Glad to say that I was able to come by, try the food and say that the food is still fresh, and theexperience is still great. When we went by around 11:45 on a Monday, me and my friend was able to get a table right away.Luckily we went earlier as the tables started to fill up. There was a lady server who was patient and very nice, and always cameby to refill our green tea. Food Decided to try what I ordered a long time ago, the beef teriyaki combo and the Charashi Bowl.We were served right away a bowl of miso soup and green tea. The Beef Sashimi Combo was still awesome, and we were able toswitch out the Albacore for more of the yellow tail and salmon. The beef was still great, always good to have some hot food too, because too much sashimi could be overwhelming. The Charashi bowl is STILL A MUST. Just packed with goodness, even sweet shrimpand scallop, even great to share with someone. Again I was happy to be able to revisit this placed and discover not much of thefood has changed. Will definitely try to visit again if I am around the area! Until next time! Read more
