We were heading to Pittsburgh for the weekend and needed a stop for dinner on the way. I came across this place based on our... timing and gave it a shot. Neat little place with an old-style feeling to it. Super-friendly staff. We split the combination:beef medallions, schnitzel, bratwurst, spätzle, potato salad, sauerkraut, red cabbage, and green beans wrapped in bacon. Ithink the schnitzel, sauerkraut, and red cabbage were my favorites. I'm not a fan of mayo, but even the potato salad wasn'tbad. One thing, and not really under their control, but the outdoor seating is a little weird. Not sure if it's all the time,but people fly up and down that road on Friday night. What an experience! The staff is extremely friendly and the food is something to savor! We stumbled upon this place because our... first choice wasn't open yet, and I'm glad it wasn't. Our server was incredibly informative, helpful and patient while we madeour selections and the atmosphere was authentic and inviting. Fantastic! We stopped here for lunch on the way home from Shenandoah and were glad we did! Jaeger schnitzel Hunter style and... pork schnitzel with spaetzle and carrots. See for yourself in the photos. Nice sized portions and a beautiful restaurant. Veryneat and clean with lots of space for larger groups! We washed it all down with house made German chocolate cake. If you're in the mood for German food...more specifically, Bavarian food, you must try this place. I was born in Germany and... lived as an adult in Northern Italy for more than 12 years, often frequenting Austria and the Bavaria part of Germany and I cansay with absolute confidence, this place is 100% legit. One of the items on their menu is a Schweinshaxe (roasted pork shank). Super moist and tender on the inside, and crispy pork cracklings on the outside. The only thing they ask is you pre-order it atleast 24-hours in advance. So whenever I call for a reservation, I pre-order it...no problem. It's served with a grilled breaddumpling, braised red cabbage with apples and sauerkraut. They have a great selection of Bavarian beers on tap and when you'redone with the meal, order an Apflelkorn with your desert. 5 Stars!!! Read more
