The hey day of the Famous might be in the rear view mirror. Still good food. Still great service (Shout out to Missy.) But... the location is dated and more than a little run-down.
Old school location with diner vibe. Banana shake was super thick. Great Texas style burger and dog. Dogs have that snap you get when have a bite into the casing.
After having driven past this place probably 15 times, I was intrigued by the thought of the sign that said they have the best wieners. I thought okay we'll see do they do a breakfast as well because that was what I was aiming for. The breakfast platter was eggs toast and a wiener. Of course, you had the choice of sausage bacon ham or a hamburger as well. I believe I chose wisely as all the food and in particular the wiener was quite well cooked and really very tasty was delivered quickly cost me under 6 bucks and I was feeling like I had gotten a nice deal for breakfast that was very respectable. Even the toast was good - a bit oversized from what I'm used to but that was fine with me. The cook and the waitress were very friendly. I enjoyed the ambience, this is a real diner so if a real diner is what you want then brother this is your place since I was there for breakfast, I will confess that I did not look over their whole menu very closely. I will definitely be stopping by here again as I cut through Hanover. A nice place at a very respectable price. Two thumbs up for sure.
Not bad, but no longer famous. People still like this place but I've been consistently disappointed since Pete died. The hot dogs are no longer natural casing, split and sectioned on the grill. The mustard is no longer slightly sweet, and most of all the onions are no longer Bermuda, with the juice squeezed out to make them nice and mild, and to make the chili amazing. Those were totally worth it, these are not.
Food wasn't really anything special. Didn't actually like their hot dogs. The chili sauce and french fries were good. Service was terrible. Only one waitress was covering the entire restaurant. She was rude and unpleasant. I understand she was busy but that is no excuse for being rude.
Love their food , ever since Harry?s closed in Westminster I?ve had hard time finding a great hot dog place to come close to the Harry?s hotdog . I found this place , checked it out and now come here weekly. Love the food , the prices , and the great service !!!
My friend was visiting and we decided to try some local cuisine--this seemed like the spot. I am not rating on service because I realize that everyone is short-handed these days. But the food really wasn't worth the money. The "famous" weiners were tough like shoe leather. The hamburger was reminiscent of salisbury steak and the chili tasted like it came from a can. The only thing that really seemed worth eating were the french fries. I don't think we will go back until we have managed to forget about this experience.
Still the best hot dogs around. Lovely quaint diner with nice workers. The cheeseburger my hubby tried wasn't what was expected on a long roll and hardly any meat. So I'll stick with hot dogs from now on
