Polite wait staff. Food plated well. The mediocrity of the flavors is what brought the rate down. There was not any pop or wow... on the plate or in my mouth. Read more

I love to get a bit of my second home (as Houston is my first home and NOLA is my second) as their gumbo is FIRE DELICIOUS!!! If... you go, I highly recommend their gumbo and some oysters!!! We just wanted a small bite to eat. The service was so good. Andgood even better. They always give you a delicious loaf of bread and a sweet smile on their face. It?s been a nice treat addedto Hernando. Read more

When they first opened I was blown away by how good the food was. The onion rings and crème brûlée were the best I have EVER... had! The onion rings were light, crispy, and airy with the prefect seasoning. I was telling everyone I knew about these dangonion rings! Well, they must have a different chef now, because last months onion rings were the worst I have ever eaten! Thefrozen ones at Kroger using minced onions are better than theses. They were cut SO thick, and then the thick breading on top ofthat, I couldn?t eat them. They made me gag. I could barely even cut into them! You get a lot for the money, but they werehorrible. The peel and eat shrimp were hard to peel and over seasoned with salt. The crème brûlée is still the best, and theserver was wonderful. But for the prices, I won?t be going back. Read more

We went just a little after they opened so it wasn't terribly busy, like a Friday evening would be. They gave us a small loaf of... French bread to start, which was really flaky and made a mess lol and a side of butter that was rock hard, almost impossible tospread without ripping holes in the bread ???? We had a few appetizers to share, which were ok, nothing special. I had thestuffed grouper, which was really good with green beans and a side of slaw. My daughter had chicken fingers (which were huge andyummy) with a side of fries and the others at our table seemed to be satisfied with their entrées. Our waitress wasn't reallyattentive and we were having to wave her down for refills and extra napkins and such, which I'm sure got annoying with a groupof 6! She did manage to come around once without being asked, which was to pick up the check ????????? Some items wereoverpriced, considering the portions sizes, like $17 for 2 "Jumbo" crab cakes, which were actually pretty small! It's a niceenough place to try, especially in Hernando, but I'd like to see what other seafood places we can find. Read more

Attention all travelers, diners, foodies, and anyone looking for a place for a good meal. Initially was reluctant to try The... Parish Oyster Bar & Restaurant mainly because of the name. The Parish Oyster Bar & Restaurant will surpass your expectationsstarting with the fresh French bread served in the brown bag with soft butter. Everything I ordered was superb visually andgastronomically delicious. The fried crab claws and fried catfish was prepared by someone that cares about how the food isserved and plated. The breading on both of these dishes were light enough to enhance the golden color of frying with verylittle seasoning not to overpower the flavor of the freshness of the protein. The crab stuffed Grouper is probably the best inNorthern Mississippi and would be comfortable if compared to the same dish in a coastal state. The Crawfish stuffed Frenchbread is in a league of its own. I was not prepared for this appetizer. The best way I can describe this dish is a mixture ofcrawfish, cheese, and cream cheese 'I'm guessing" served on top of split French bread loaf and lightly toasted. It's like anopen face grill cheese sandwich for grown-ups. (Ok to share with the kids). Writing reviews requires the same amount of energygood or bad for whatever the reason. I gave The Parish Oyster Restaurant 4/5 stars because, there is always room forimprovement. The only complaint I have is, I would prefer to have broccoli with my entree. The Parish Oyster Bar & Restaurantis located in Nothern Mississippi in the city of Hernando on Commerce Street less than a 1/2 mile off the Highway 55 CommerceStreet exit. The value and quality of the food is equally linked, and, in my opinion, I won't say no names there are a fewrestauranter's in nearby cities that needs to visit The Parish Oyster Bar & Restaurant and get a taste of some real Cajun food. For those with inquiring minds just read some of my other reviews. This is without a doubt the best Cajon/Creole cook Read more
