I decided to stop in and it was 10 minutes before their Closing time! Yes I know poor planning on my part. I was greeted as if... I was the first customer of the day! I asked to sit a the bar as to not make a mess of the clean dining room. Being so late Iasked what would be convenient, to which I was told everything is available, by whom I find out later is one of the owners. Iordered Barbacao tacos, charro beans, with two chicken tamales. With chips and salsa. Let me start with the Homemade chips,fresh homemade Salsa that is perfectly done absolutely could eat a gallon of it. The Barbacoa tacos, close your eyes imaginebeing at a cookout and they pull back the tarp and leaves from the buried jowls, the taste is that authentic. True Mexican notTex Mex! The Charro Beans are absolutely amazing flavorful and a large portion. The Tamales are definitely something I will beasking to order a dozen or more to take home, large hearty well filled great tasting. For me coming in so late I was completelyshocked that I was treated so well, fed well and this is now a Must Goto place for Us. The Owners are extremely Nice people. Read more
Based on previous reviews, you'd think this place was awesome. Food was decent, but... you better check your tickets closely. We... had a group on 3 separate checks. All 3 checks were overcharged with items we didn't order. One in our group ordered aNon-alcoholic pineapple. The ticket showed a higher price than the menu. We were told "you got the one with Alcohol"... well, wedidn't order the Alcohol drink and if there was Alcohol in it, sure couldn't tell. All together, our 3 tickets were $25 morethan they should have been. They fixed the tickets, but it was much more of an ordeal than it should have been. I go to Ely's about 5 times a year. I usually order the "antojito" because I KNOW it will be delicious. Today I decided to try ... something different. I got street tacos as a to-go order. And I must say- WOW. It came with a side of tasty beans, 2 sauces(YUMMY), fresh cilantro and onions, and spanish rice. It was some of the best street tacos I have ever had.
