Everything about this Deli is awesome. The people are friendly the food is excellent. When you want something cooked a certain... way and you ask for it they almost always do it perfect every time. You weren't burnt onions with your scrambled eggs you'll getthem burnt. The Corned Beef is delicious the pastrami is delicious and probably the best Sable around town. I found out thatJoey the owner only buys enough Sable to last for one day. Once it's gone it's gone. But it is the freshest moistest mostdelicious Sable I have had in a long long time. They have great soup and sandwich combinations and soup and salad combinations.Sometimes there's a lack of help but the Busboys kick in they are very helpful also. They also freed a lot of their product foryou to take home which is what we do many times and stay away from that tempting dessert display at the counter where you pay.You'll definitely want to take something delicious home for later. I've been here a few times a local in HP. Previous to my last experience it has been good quick food. However, I visited last... Saturday with my girlfriend's family and we were immediately accosted by the host/owner. He was upset that we were standing infront of the host stand blocking the menus. Rather than asking us to move, he nearly shoved my girlfriend's father (a 70+ yearold man) and yelled at him to get out of his way, then made a comment to me about not getting upset with older people after acertain age because they are losing it. I let him know that he was the problem, not my girlfriend's father. It was truly bizarrethat an owner thinks this is a normal way to treat customers. In addition to the extremely unfriendly welcoming, the food tookover an hour to get to our table without much reason. Won't be coming back. The owner needs to figure out a better way to runhis business that doesn't involve shoving and personally offending his customers. Hoping he get's some therapy for the sake ofhis customers and staff. Best deli I?ve been to. Period. Got the turkey Rueben sub sauerkraut for coleslaw - 10/10
Couldn't get a simple answer on whether the matzo balls are peanut free. We have two sons with severe peanut allergies. One tiny... speck of peanut can put them into anaphylaxis. After repeated tries to reach them on the phone during business hours, we finallydrove to the deli, only to be rudely treated with sketchy answers ("nobody has complained of peanuts yet"), and only upon beingpushed to provide the ingredients, an authoritative person angrily responded, "they're not safe," which is fine, but ridiculousthat we had to drive there to be treated rudely, only to find information that any reputable restaurant would put on their menusand website, or at least have readily available when asked. I am not sure about the reason for all the negative reviews. Almost didn't even try this place due to the negative reviews. On... the way back from Chicago, almost skipped this place due to the bad reviews and went next door. But next door was closed, sodecided to try the place. 1) service - this is not the Ritz Carlton, it's a deli restaurant. While service was not of RitzCarlton, it was fine. Nobody was obnoxious or rude. We did go at not the most busy time so that may have helped. 2) place -large - tables nicely spaced out, a great deli with to go food up front aesthetically pleasing with all kinds of goodies. 3)the food - was too busy eating and didn't take photos - the food was delicious. I have gone to other delis and this one rankshigh. Matzo ball soup - delicious broth (better than some delis) and the matzo balls were just right The chopped liver -delicious - just the right amount of creaminess, not dried out and flavorful. Corned beef hash - delicious Others had reuben -great, challah great. Looking forward to going back. Read more
