Overpriced sandwiches and not great. We did takeout and once we got home, didn't receive cookies we paid for. Not returning.
Got there before 3pm closing. We were ready to order quickly. Dude (manager?) kept telling us ?we?re closing? 5 times... interrupting our order. We said that?s enough, we understand. He started yelling at us, said we were ?inconsiderate? for comingin before closing, and then trying to order ?the whole place.? (We ordered 2 sandwiches). This Dude was angry/agitated/hostile,trying to intimidate us, even came out from behind the counter. He Said, ?you got what you wanted.? I replied, ?no, I wantedgood service and I didn?t get that.? Whoever is in charge of this guy should get him counseling and at a minimum, give him awarning. All the other ladies there were nice and didn?t act like him. Got here at a little before 1PM for lunch. We tried to order from the pick 2 menu. Half of the soups we ordered were not... available, thay ran out. Similar with some of the type of bread. Sorry we ran out. Ended up ordering from what thay had aavailable. Also the pastry counter only had 3 muffins and a few other pastries, if I recall correctly there were no more that 7or 8 items in that counter. It was 1PM and the store was basically out of food. I asked if they were cooking or baking morestuff and the cashier just stared at me with no answer. Then another cashier just looked at her and told her no because theywere closing at 3PM. WoW!!! I visit Panera Bread often during travels from Charlotte to Texas, Kentucky, Missouri, Tennessee, Michigan and all the stayes in... between. This location on Hilton Head island is just off the main thoroughfare on the northeast side of the island and only 2miles from the resort where we stayed. I ordered the broccoli cheddar soup with a deli turkey sandwich, customized withadditional chesses and a variation of other items like frizzled onions, spinach and mayo and horseradish. The quality of thefood lwas quite good and lived up to expectations. This location is smaller than the average size of a Panera Bread restaurant,so keep that in mind when planning to dine at the restaurant. I visited at 2:00 pm during a rainy day and there was an opentable or two. I usually do take out these days, a lingering habit from the recent pandemic, and the take- out shelf is near theentrance on the right side of the restaurant. All in all a good experience. Read more
