Having never been to a tea room, I wasn?t entirely sure what to expect. I was thinking garden party, so my companions and I dressed for the garden?in florals. The place: Dimly lit, so you may need to get creative reading the menus. There were maybe half a dozen small tables in the back area of the shop with tablecloths and centerpieces to set the mood. Along the walls are hooks which provide a home for hats. In fact, there are enough hats that there?s a collection on a short wall separating part of the seating area. In addition to the hat collection, there?s also a collection of tea sets as decor. The food (and tea): I?ve only seen a tea menu this long in one other place. The variety is splendid and offers so much variation that it?s difficult to choose if you?re an adventuresome tea drinker who wants to try it all. I settled on After Dark Chai, and it changed my mind about drinking only chai lattes. Clearly I?ve been drink the wrong chai before this. The food was, in a word, dainty. I definitely felt like I was at a tea party when finger sandwiches and tiny scones came out on tiered trays. The sandwiches and baked goods were fabulous, the Mac and cheese was a little underwhelming. The service: Delightful and personable. I appreciated the breakdown of what was on each tea tray, the explanation of what to eat first. Especially if we wanted to eat the scones while they were warm! Next time: I might just go for tea and scones. As other reviewers have mentioned, it?s a little pricey, but for a leisurely afternoon spent sipping tea and chatting with friends, it was well worth it.
Great food, service and an excellent tea selection. Try the Lapsang Souchong, smoky, delicious and unusual.
A wonderful tea room experience. The food was delicious, and so many tea choices. If want a afternoon tea you should visit.
So many lovely tea options! Me and my friends had so much fun sipping tea and eating dainty pastries. Great friendly service, the waitress seemed a bit overworked, so everything took a little longer than expected. But we made some fun memories and had a great time talking.
I wanted to get a gift of tea and a teapot for someone important to me, but I knew absolutely nothing about tea. The owner herself helped me for, like, at least half an hour. I learned a bunch about tea and got a sweet gift, too. The building is adorable and everything feels super welcoming. Honestly, even standing in the foyer area just felt like a nice hug. When the pandemic (hopefully) ends, I absolutely plan to come back and enjoy the actual restaurant part of the business.
This is my home away from home. I have traveled all over the world and there is nothing quite like it. The owner is personable and provides a delightful atmosphere for anyone at any age! The tea is delicious and cakes are even better! They even are allergy aware so if you are diary or gluten free do not let that stop you. Cannot wait to go back.
The food is fantastic, the entrees and dessert never disappoint. The whole afternoon tea tray is fantastic and it changes every time I go there and they're not afraid to try new things, such as a mango chutney sandwich or a turkey sandwich with orange filling. The tea here is fantastic. I'm not much of a dark tea drinker, but I've heard it's as good as their herbal teas, which I enjoy. Definitely worth getting a reservation on Thursdays in the early afternoon as they have live music from Mike Irish, the former MTU Jazz director and it adds another layer to the whole cake.
Love the atmosphere and hats. The food is mediocre. The bread bowl I got was 90% bread and very little soup, not hollowed out like it should be. Disappointing for the price. Tiny portions. The sweets tier has some tasty treats. You pay for the experience really. Good tea selection.
