#JoeFoodTour we have passed this location for many many years without stopping in. Our friend Jane recommended it highly because... she is Italian from the East Coast. The owner Antonio moved to Brooklyn from Italy in the 1950s and then to Houston in the 1970sfrom his connections in Brooklyn. He gets most of his ingredients because they're higher quality and represent the true Italianflavor. We ordered off menu at James recommendation the lasagna pizza. It was very good with mozzarella and ricotta cheese on acrispy pie crust. Perception is everything. My experience here probably would of been a normal sit down experience at a restaurant but how I was... greeted at the door was a very strange. I walk in and the receptionist looks busy even though the lobby is empty. He asks if I?mthere to pick up an order, I said no I?m here to dine in. He gives me a strange look and mumbles In confusion. After stating I?mthere eat eat lunch again, he finally leads me to the table, my waiter was great. The food however was pretty mediocre. Iv hadbetter mozzarella sticks as sonic. Iv had better pizza at little Cesar?s and I wish I was joking, the pizza came out hot andcrust crispy but under seasoned, no salt or seasoning at all, like the sauce was just tomato purée . Haven't been back since the mid 90s and it is still every bit as good as I remembered. Great throwback to how a proper family... restaurant should be! Great service and phenomenal food. The sauce is just right, doesn't kill you with acidity but packs asmooth yet subtle flavor that really marries the pasta and protein.
