I refuse to eat vegan or vegetarian just because it's animal-free. It MUST taste great, and that's what Chef Kenny's has done at... this restaurant in West Houston. This place delivers animal-free dishes that taste great! We tried 4 dishes: Salt & PepperShrimp, House Special Noodles, Spicy Kung Pao Chicken, and Korean BBQ Beef; and all four choices were winners. We also went withthe "black rice" instead of classic white rice. A nice change of pace. The one downside I would note is their exterior lookslike a boring strip mall hole-in-the-wall joint. Fortunately that ugly exterior gives way to a very pleasant, clean and moderninterior. And I especially like the TV screen rotating pictures of their best dishes. You can see some great options on the TVscreens and then look for those dishes in the printed menus to get the details. Bottom line, you can get a dead cow, sorry, Imean "get a typical steak" at a thousand different places in Houston, but if you prefer a great meal without the cruelty, ChefKenny's is a great option and a welcome addition to Houston's restaurant scene. This is genuinely what is the best dining experiences I?ve ever had. The food was delicious. The staff was really nice. We... ordered a sushi boat with the Saturday special and it was a lot of food for a good price. As someone who?s been a vegetarian fornearly 20 years, this restaurant offer me a dining experience that was very special and provided options that I don?t have otherplaces. I?m excited to go again. Absolutely incredible, and worth checking out! Extensive menu with lots of unique and innovative food items! And everything that... we tasted was phenomenal. We had the rotti and curry, pork bao bun, Peking pork, and Cajun shrimp. We finished off with twosesame balls filled with bean paste. The curry was absolutely delicious. With little tofu parts and veggies, it complimentedthe rotti very well. The rotti was flaky and soft, simply perfect. We then moved on to the buns, and although you can definitelytaste the filling difference, the dough was on point. Super fluffy, airy and soft. And the filling was still very very good, just different. As per the entrees, both plates were very large. The come with a side of white or mixed riced. The Peking porkwas fantastic. The sauce was very sweet, and tasted just like guava (which is exactly what I think they used). The texture was abit tough, and hard to bite, but other than that the flavor was fantastic. The shrimp was also stellar. This was my favoritedish, as the texture was perfect and the Cajun spicy sauce was incredible. Again the portion was massive so we left both fulland very satisfied. We finished with two small sesame balls filled with red bean paste which added that little dessert feelingat the end. Overall, an incredible Asian vegan restaurant. Options are abundant, portions are large, and the flavor is justincredible. This is a must try!!? Read more
