A for effort. C for execution. March tries HARD to get it right. The idea, the decor, the ambiance are clearly well thought out... AND well done. The progression of the dining experience, the menu itself, are well thought out. The wine list is extensive withsome fantastic options throughout. However, the execution is lacking where it matters. The food is fine. Most of the disheswere decently executed, but nothing was stunning, and nothing was particularly inventive or interesting. Literally not a singledish shined. The other major miss is the service. The service is clearly not well trained, sloppy at times. Some other minordetails also need work, but with the food and service being subpar, nothing else even matters. If March scaled back itsambitions a bit, it would be a perfectly great place with a $125 - $185 range menu that just needed to improve service a bit.But as it is today, and at the $185 - $245 price point, shooting for a 2** experience, it just falls short on thefundamentals. Is it the best Houston has to offer right now? Possibly. But having dined at the majority of starred restaurantsin the US, incl. the vast majority of the 2* and 3*s, March very clearly falls short of what it aims to be. Read more
