The food was okay here. Salsa is very thin and only has spices, juice. If you dip a chip in it, you only pull out a wet chip... however it's still pretty tasty. The enchiladas don't really come in a gravy Sauce so they're a little dry. Beans and rice arepretty good. The food came quick but I was the only person in the restaurant at 4:30pm The wait staff was friendly, nice butnot very attentive. They pretty much just drop the food and go without ever coming back to check on you or confirm everythingwas prepared as requested. This is not the original owners from 45yrs ago when i 1st visited and business has been transferreda couple of times since the beginning. If they paid a little more attention to the customers the experience could be moreworthwhile because the restaurant itself has nice inside and climate controlled patio but it went from a place where once everytable was taken to a completely empty restaurant. This is good place to hold corporate lunch being close to downtown and TexasMedical Center so i urge you to try everything for yourself. I will try them again for the Chimichunga . Read more

Update 2022: With new ownership, two dishes have been added. And. They. Are. Excellent. Be sure to order a bowl of the shrimp... soup. And the birria tacos. The chips are no longer burned. The two salsas are delicious. Rice and beans are good. Seephotos. The tables at the restaurant are admirable. I'm not sure how old they are but they have inset bits of tile and lookreally retro. The waitstaff couldn't be nicer. Spanish Village is a Houston institution and is historically significant, one ofthe older Mexican restaurants still in existence here. Back in the day, the combo plate that featured things such as a taco, chile con queso, a chalupa and/or guacamole salad was known as The Ladies Special or The Summer Special at many Mexicanrestaurants around Houston. I would recommend you forego the enchilada/tamal/rice/beans plate and stick with these summer itemspiled high with crisp lettuce and diced tomatoes. The selection is served as the starter on the Alfonso Pico Special: Chile ConQueso, Guacamole Salad, Beef Taco, Veracruzana and I would stop there and not go on with the hot plate oftamale/enchilada/rice/beans. That would be my recommendation for your first visit. AND...my rating of four stars is based onlyon the items in a Summer Special type meal. Read more

Everything had great flavor! The charro beans were the best. The drinks were fire. So good. The quesadilla was cheesy and... filled with fajita meat. The fajita plate was awesome. We will definitely be back. Read more

***REVIEW WAS FOR SPANISH/LITTLE VILLAGE BEFORE NEW OWNERSHIP REMOVED THE VEGAN MENU*** I love this place. The atmosphere is... very inviting and the staff including the owner are so friendly and personable. The staff remembered me after my FIRST visitdespite me getting a full hair-do change in between my first and second visits. The vegan menu here is amazing! I love breakfasttacos and the price for both quality and quantity is excellent. Every time I get the munchies late at night I crave theirchorizo, just egg and potato tacos!! ???? I’d like to address one of the only bad reviews here by a woman named Joy. She islargely known in the vegan community to be a horrible nag. It is a disappointment that a schoolteacher in Pasadena would be sucha gross, disrespectful and entitled person towards our local vegan businesses, especially at one as pleasant as Spanish Village! I have never tried all the years living in 3rd Ward. I heard it was under new ownership. That day 12-21-21 I was in a car... accident afterwards hungry and frustrated about the incident. I decided get something to eat. I went in talked to ladies thatsevered me. I told them what happened. They gave me a margarita ???? to calm my nerves. It was probably the best margarita Ivehave ever had. The ladies was extremely nice and friendly. We discussed what happen to them after covid. I took my food home. My family has ordered there almost six times since then. We love Spanish Village. My daughter really does. She loves Mexicanfood. Please try you wont be disappointed. The food is fresh, prices are reasonable, and staff is great. The new manger takesgood care of the restaurant. Black owned establishment Read more
