The nacatamales were so mushy that I couldn’t eat it. The masa seemed uncooked, they had very little flavor, and the meat had... a bone in it. I was only able to take a few bites and stopped eating it. It’s unfortunate because we don’t have manyNicaraguan restaurants here. Read more

One of two Nicaraguan restaurants in the area (they are around the corner from each other). Offers the usual Nicaraguan... favorites. It's a large menu with plenty to choose from, from small dishes to full blown meals. The service is very friendly. You feel like you're getting a home cooked meal. However, the prices are high and seem to go up every time we visit. Otherwise agreat, authentic Nicaraguan experience. Read more

Food is great! I found them by luck. I have a presentation for Spanish class, and want to share Nicaraguan food with my class. I... was planning to go to a restaurant around the corner. I hit a speed bump when my boss simply expected me to cover anothercoworker's shift without speaking with me first. I didn't get off my 12 hour shift until 8. In OC. While they're in like SouthGate. A 40 minute drive. I sped to get to the original restaurant that stated it closed at 9 pm. They were locked up and gone bythe time I made it at 8:37. Freaking out because I really felt that Nicaraguan food would really be the icing to thispresentation, I looked at Google maps again, and saw Las Segovias was right around the corner. They were closing for the night, and I literally begged for any food they had prepared and hadn't thrown out. Instead, they invited me in, and cooked me, what Ihope was a simple dish of gallo pinto and these like, fried cheese blocks! I am SO grateful to them! I'm going to be sure toshare the restaurant to my class when sharing their delicious food! Read more

It's unfortunate, didn't want to write this but was forced to. Had great potential with unpleasant results all four times eating... from Las Segovias. First and second time we all suffered from immediate stomach pains that resulted in multiple restrooms tripsthroughout the evening (embarrassing and painful to say the least). The following times were take out brought by a family memberas a surprise so we decided to eat the food out of respect, bad decision! Two separate occasions months apart we discovered awoven black hair in the Nacatamal, on the most recent one was a piece of metal mesh fabric on the meat which was the straw thatbroke the camel's back. I understand mistakes happen, but it's just too much of a coincidence and thus the reason we avoidedtheir stand on the Fiestas Agostinas Nicaraguence in Bell Gardens this year. Overall the restaurant itself is a bit grimy, definitely needs a welcoming update as well as staff training on food preparation and handling safety. A bit pricey too. Read more
