Of the three or four total Fat Dan's locations, this one is without equal. It captures the feeling of being in Chicago... perfectly. They always have great food, portions are generous (especially for the fries), and staff are tons of fun. Theirrotating selection of draft beers is one of the best in the city, and their Wake n' Bake burger was my go-to hangover cure whenI was living in the apartment building above the restaurant. Had a great (giant) veggie burger! The kind that falls apart and is almost to big to fit in your mouth (the best). I feel like... with the lays on the side it was just the perfect serving size. The staff was friendly albeit seemed super confused at how longwe spent sitting outside enjoying the weather and talking lol. They weren?t exactly trying to rush us but I think most peoplejust don?t spend that long there, it?s more of a fast sandwiches or bar/large group place haha. First time there. My hamburger and fries were 1 step above average, but still nothing to write home about. I was more shocked at... my final bill, 1 single patty hamburger, some fries and a drink. $19.57 plus tip. Food is good, but not $19.57 good. Our server was fast and efficient. The staff was welcoming to everyone while the restaurant was packed. A table opened quickly... so the wait was short. Our food was all very good though I did have to remind them of part of our order. My burger had a tomatowhich I asked them to leave off. The loaded fry appetizer was full of toppings and flavor.
