The food and atmosphere are great. It's a good family restaurant. But the main reason we visit is the service. It's always... wonderful, especially if you sit in Pam's section. Hearing "I'm so proud of you!" will make my day every time, no matter what. Read more

There?s a place like the Galley in every town?dated and dingy but with great food and the best down-home service from servers... who have been there decades (shoutout to Ms. Pam and Dee Dee, the friendliest waitresses in Jackson). Quick service for lunch ora road stop. Good-sized fillets and a good value overall considering the complimentary baskets of uniquely sweet hushpuppies andcomplimentary self-serve ice cream with hot fudge and toppings. I came in at lunch and had the catfish and fried shrimp platter with fries and onion rings as my two sides. Basket of hush... puppies and dipping sauce hit the table when I did. The fried calamari appetizer was very good despite the panko crust. Thefried shrimp were also crusted in panko, so next time I'll get the peel-and-eat option. And there will be a next time! Thecatfish was excellently prepared, and the onion rings were also very good. The place shows its age, but is clean. The staff arecourteous and efficient, and your food arrives quickly.
