I've driven by this restaurant dozens of times, but never gave it much thought. Boy, was I wrong to do so. Warm, fresh chips and... delicious salsa upon arrival. The regular margaritas were good enough to warrant two (it was lunch time on Saturday). I enjoyedthe Burrito 5 de Mayo (Cinco de Mayo Burrito) with chicken, chorizo, rice and beans. We have tried numerous Mexican restaurants in the Des Moines area, trying to find one that fits our simple tastes. We wanted a... clean organized place, attentive and friendly service, good house salsa and hot sauce, comfortable seating in a bright modernspace, tasty house margaritas and a reasonable variety of fresh tasty foods made with quality ingredients at affordable prices.It doesn?t seem too much and I assume most would agree. Individual tastes vary and most of the restaurants we visited were busyand well recommended yet each eventually let us down in one or more ways. Amigo checked all of our boxes. Always a delight to dine at Amigo's! Today we ate here with our younger grandchildren and the food was fresh, hot, and tasty!... The kids can be messy eating chips, salsa, and queso, but the staff is always cheerful and understanding. They've opened uptheir patio now and we can't wait to try it when it cools down a bit. Amigo is now our go-to for margaritas. Fast friendly service, the food is great and reasonably priced.
