My husband and I both ordered the lunch special. He got a roast beef and cheddar sandwich with chicken noodle soup with a... chocolate chip cookie (substituting the pie) and I got a ham and cheddar sandwich with chicken noodle soup and an appleboysenberry pie. The soup comes with crackers; the sandwich came with chips and pickles. I ordered my pie a la mode withcinnamon ice cream. The sandwich was very tasty, made with fresh ingredients in perfect proportions (e.g. the mayo/mustardadded to the flavor without overpowering it). The chicken soup hit the spot! The pie was also delicious, with the cold cinnamonice cream perfectly melting over the warm, decadent pie. They also have a nice selection of teas and other treats, includinggluten free and sugar free options. The staff was friendly and gave the whole place a homey feel. Much appreciated! Read more
The pie here is so good! This is also one of the only places I found with dairy free/vegan pie in all of Julian. The apple pie... was full of flavor. The strawberry rhubarb was sweet and delicious. They have a nice small outdoor area off the main street withplenty of shade. The staff was friendly.. I'll definitely be coming back. Read more
Apple Alley Bakery is a great name for a place that looks situated between two buildings. The great thing about this... establishment, is that there is some good outdoor dining to the side and back of the bakery. I saw the Caramel Apple Pecan Pie,and knew I had to have it. I ordered up a slice with a cup of coffee. The outside area is a nice place to sit and chill withyour four-legged friend. The nice May Julian weather is cool and calm making it perfect to enjoy your pie outdoors in the freshair. The Caramel Apple Pecan Pie was even more delicious than it looked, and I enjoyed each bite from my slice. The pie was sowonderful that I ordered a whole Cherry Apple to take home. I especially like these small mom and pop bakeries in Julian and Ithink their pies are among the best to be found! Read more
