Came here with my wife for the weekend as her birthday treat.\n\nThe Secret Garden Inn began life as Argyle House, long the home... of the McKay family. It\'s been a B&B since 1996.\n\nThe bed in the Bader Room is as comfy as advertised---and tall. Don\'t beafraid to use the stool to climb in if you\'re short!\n\n(The vintage tub is lovely but it will be a genuinely tight squeeze forcouples.)\n\nThe home is from 1888, and due in part to heritage regulations limiting upgrades:\n\n1. There is no central air orthermostat in rooms. The period radiators no longer function. Ask for assistance with the Dyson room heater (we forgot to do soand spent a rather chilly night!)\n\n2. Some rooms are up two flights of stairs. Installing an elevator is not an option. Guestswith limited mobility should call ahead for their options before booking.\n\n3. The rooms are poorly insulated against sound. Please keep the noise down at bedtime; your fellow guests will thank you!\n\nLike many hospitality businesses, Secret Gardenappears to be short-staffed.\n\n1. You\'ll have to be pro-active about seeking assistance. The most reliable way is to knock forservice on the kitchen door. (We had to do this to get help checking out.)\n\n2. Preferred times for breakfast are taken thenight before but are not guaranteed (we booked at 9:30 and weren\'t served till ten). If you\'re in any real hurry, grab acoffee from the Keurig machine in your room and head for the eateries on Princess or Brock Street.\n\nOn the basis of thebreakfast we might return for the Secret Garden Inn\'s afternoon teas (available on reservation). For an overnight stay, though,it\'s not an ideal option in Kingston in the SGI\'s price range. Read more

I had the pleasure of having high tea at the Secret Garden for my birthday! This was my first time visiting and it was truly an... unforgettable experience. You can really tell how much thought is put into every detail - from the decor, to the tasty homemadetreats, to the service. Special shout-out to our waitress Sasha who made us feel like family:) I really hope to be back soon! Read more

The Secret Garden Inn is a beautiful bed and breakfast with AMAZING ambiance, service, and a free breakfast. My friend and I... were simply blown away by the luxury and the friendliness of the staff. Loved the common room with the books, the lounge, andthe dining area. It\'s like stepping into an Edwardian or Victorian house. My friend and I also loved the shampoos and bodywashes!\n\nThis is a great place for a staycation!\n\nOne suggestion: I did notice that the wiring on one of the walls (in theMartello room) didn\'t work after 10 PM or so, which made it hard to go to the washroom since the light in the washroom didn\'twork. For the same reason, we couldn\'t use the coffee/tea machine to make drinks. Read more
