Staff is awesome! But, not your typical US hotel: small room, narrow halls, shared BR down the hall. But: only a few miles from... trailheads to magnificent and unforgettable experience! If you wanna stay at Strawberry Lodge for a hotel experience, you'rebarking up the wrong tree! Strawberry Lodge is best appreciated as bed & shower enroute to your true goal: walking/scrambling upPyramid Creek, climbing Lover's Leap, etc. And, did I mention that the staff is awesome! Let me start by saying the bed was comfortable and the price was right. We stayed in the building across from the main lodge. I... will affectionately refer to this as the Murder Lodge. We opened the door to the room to find that there is no phone, no TV andno clock. That was fine, but I didn't like the fact that there was a back door to our room that had a hole where the door handleused to be and only a latch to lock it. Next we realized that there was a pickup truck parked directly on the other side of thedoor within a couple of feet. The bathroom window had a curtain that had no privacy when the light in the bathroom was on atnight, anybody could see in from the outside. The window had a lock on only one side, so I awoke all night waiting for somebodyto break in and kill us. Even the shades at the front of the room didn't fit the window and there were gaps on the side andbottom anybody could have looked in on us. All in all it was fine, just don't expect a whole lot. We will try the original lodgenext time and hopefully feel a bit more secure. Read more

The only thing nice about this place is the elderly man that worked here when we checked in at night. I was warned it was a... small room with two twin beds. But that was not the issues. The issue was there was no bathrooms in the rooms, there was ashared bathroom in the hall which upon arrival the men's bathroom was clogged with poop. There was no ac in the rooms either andnot even a tiny TV which are soo cheap these days. Then in the morning I went to check the bathroom again because I needed to gonumber 2 and it was clean so I lock the door and begin to use it. THEN SOMEONE JUST UNLOCKED THE DOOR WHILE I WAS GOING!!! wego to check out then a young gentleman came and broke change for a lady then was just going to walk off without evenacknowledging me!!! I was like excuse me I need to check out. Then he just told me rudely to throw them on the desk... horribleexperience... the only nice thing was the old man at night who gave me an extra pillow and blanket and mattress pad. Read more
